SESSION ONE
Medical Intuition: A ScienceWhoseTime Has Come
"It is wisdomto believetheheart."- GeorgeSantayana
W eareliving at a time that hasseenaquantumleap in the field of humanconsciousness,a
time when our interior senseof self is radicallychanging.Wearebeinginvited to look at life intuitively- to trust in chaosbeyond logic - and to becomepartnerswith spirit for a truly extraordinarylife.
This accelerationin consciousnessbeganin the1960s,when the intuitive capacityof humanitywasunlockedin agreat"downloadof perception."In thisdecade,we developeda passionfor freedom fromlongstandingnarrow perceptionsthat limited ourexplorationof ourselves. We said"no more"to socialrituals, andinsteaddeclaredour readinessto explorethat which is comingfrom within. Whenwe usetheskills of medicalintuition, this is exactlywherewe go- within.
From the revolution of the 1960swe moved tothe involution of the 1970s.Oncewe decidedwhatwe didn't want, we had to discover what we didwant. Concepts like intuitive energy, intuitivelanguage, channeling, being in rapport withnonphysicalteachers, andsoon, beganto surfaceinthe mainstream.
In the 1980s we moved to evolution, when webegan to realize the power of our thoughts andemotions - and their effect on our biology. Werecognized that as individuals we are each anextraordinarysystem. We beganto seethe interconnectionbetweenour spiritual biology, our physical
3
biology, andour intuitive biology. We knew we hadwhatit takesto becomehighly intuitive andawareofour innerguidance.
This led to the 1990s, the decadeof revelationwhenwe decided, "Iwant now to respond.I simplywant to respond.I want to receiveguidance.I wantto have the courageto surrenderand follow myguidancewithout a divine agenda."
Herewe arein the first decadeof the21st century. It is now our goal to becometruly integrated.Wewantto live, finally, in an intuitive harmonyin whichinner guidance no longer intimidates us butbecomesthe sweetestvoice we have. In enteringacourselike this you'reon thecuttingedgeof whatwethink will become a major, integrated part ofmedicinein the 21st century.
As you will soon see, intuition is an innatecapability, specific for eachindividual, andservingasaguide, counselor, andinformer. It is anabstractquality of mind programmedfrom a higherlevel ofconsciousness. It is a segmentof a universalmindfrom which all knowing and physical manifestations are derived. Eachand all of our bodily cellsand systemsrespondto this direction with intelligence.Justasin developinganyskill, daily practiceand training are neededto work with this intelligenceandmasterthetools of medicalintuition. Letus, then, begin.
SESSION TWO
The I-listory of Medical Intuition
"Psychicability is bestachievedthroughspiritual development."- EdgarCayce
A lthough medical intuition did not exist as aformal courseof study until sometime after
the revolutionaryperiodof the 1960s,intuition itselfis as old as humanity. In the days of the ancientGreeks, therewasanorganizedsystemof oraclesthatwere looked to for hidden insights and guidance.Later, in the Judeo-Christiantradition, prophetswere believed to be the medium for higherknowledge. And to this day, in indigenouscultures,we canfind the role of theshamanor medicinemanor womanasthe conduitfor intuitive information.
It wasn'tuntil the 18th century that we saw theintroductionof intuition to the medical field, withthe work of Anton Mesmer. Here now are someofthe key figures in the history of medical intuition. You maywish to pursuefurther studyof their work.
Anton Mesmer (1733-1815) - Austrian-bornphysician who gained fame through the development of a healing technique he called "animalmagnetism."Mesmer was one of the first to usehypnosisin his practice, and is consideredby manyto bethe fatherof modernpsychotherapy.
John Elliotson (1791-1868)- British physicianwho introduced the stethoscope, narcotics, andMesmerismto England.Notedfor inducinga trancestatein patientswho could then useclairvoyancetomakemedicaldiagnoses.
5
JamesEsdaile(1818-1859)- British physiciannotedfor hiswork in India in which heusedMesmerismasa form of "hypnoticanesthesia"duringsurgery.
Alice Bailey (1880-1949)- oneof the first andbestknown"mediums,"Baileywrotemorethan40booksbasedon transmissionsshesaid to have intuitivelyreceivedfrom aTibetansagenamedDjwhal Khul.
William James(1842-1910)- consideredby manythe pioneer of modern psychology, he was veryactive in the studyof psychicabilities aswell.
Carl Jung (1875-1961)- consideredby many thegreatestpsychiatristof all time,Jungis notedamongother things for his contributionof the conceptofsynchronicityto the studyof intuition.
J. B. Rhine (1895-1980)- first professorof parapsychology, coinedthe term"extrasensoryperception."Noted for his researchinto psychicabilities suchasclairvoyanceandpsychokinesis.
Edgar Cayce (1877-1945) - performed approximately 15,000 psychic readings, 10,000 of whichwererelatedto medicaldiagnoses.
RobertLeichtman(1934- ) - physicianandpsychicwho studied"psychic attack" among other psychicabilities.
Elmer Green(1917- ) - the father of biofeedbacktraining, GreencofoundedISSSEEM (the International Societyfor the Studyof SubtleEnergiesandEnergyMedicine).

17. Use"radionics": rub a smoothsurfaceor stonewith your thumb and/or index finger. Resistancemeans"yes." No resistancemeans"no."
18. Practice intuiting who is phoning before youanswer.
19. Tap severaltimes on your left or right templebefore intuiting an answer and determinewhichworksbestfor you.
20.Practice"sensing"eachsection/organofyourbody.Learn'what feels"good,""not good:'or "absent."Thesensethat an areais "not good"or "absent"indicatesstress;learnwhy this is thecase:is that feeling comingfrom internalstress, unfinishedanger, guilt, anxiety, ordepression?Or is it comingfrom chemicalabnormalities or outsidenonemotionalpressure?
21. Do focusedwalking, dancing,or just free-formmovement,while repeatinga mantra.
22. Sit in front of a polishedcopperwall (three-footstrips are availableat roofing companies)and starefor 10 minutes, notingwhereyour mind takesyou.
23. Listen to greatmusic.
24. Stareinto a crystalball or largecrystal.

29. Autogenic training: with more than 2,800 testsperformed on this exercise, autogenic or "selfgenerated"training is the most highly researchedscientific technique for balancing physiology andreachingspiritualattunement(which is the ultimateintuitive process).Learn and practice in a relaxedstatethe following six phrases:
• My armsandlegsare heavyandwarm.
• My heartbeatis calmandregular.
• My breathis free andeasy.
• My abdomenis warm.
• My foreheadis cool.
• My mind is quiet andstill.
Repeateachphraseslowly, five times,allowing aslowandgentlebreathfor eachrepetition.
30. The Lennon exercise: developedby EmporiaUniversityvoice professorJohnLennon, this is oneof the bestknown techniquesfor allowing anaturalstateof relaxation.Lie on the floor with your legsraisedat right anglesandsupportedby achair. (Thisposturephysicallypreventsmuscletension.)Simplyrelax and follow your breath. This will help youreleasestored body tension and in turn enhanceyour intuitive capabilities.

SESSION FOUR
The Holographic View of Body, Mind,Emotions, and Spirit
"Onein whompersuasionandbeliefhadripenedinto faith,andfaith becomeapassionateintuition."
-William Wordsworth,THE EXCURSION
T he following chapter is an overview of theholographic connectionbetween the various
systemsof the body - physical, mental, emotional, andspiritual. As you pursueyour own evaluationofyour body, you may wish to purchasean anatomytext to seethe individual organsandorgansystems.Ultimately, your goal will be to developyour abilityto feel and communicatewith the body systems, learningwhat theyhaveto tell you.
THE CHAKRAS AND THEENDOCRINE SYSTEM
Every chakra continually sends us informationabout the state of our physiology. Since theendocrinesystemplays sucha crucial role in youroverall health, it is essential that you use yourintuition for insight into the function of the glandsandthehormonesthat theyproduce.
FIRST CHAKRAAlthough there are no glands presentwithin thefirst chakra, the importantneurochemicalGABA(Gamma-Aminobutyricacid) functionsin this andallof thechakras.Themajorinhibitory neurochemicalofthenervoussystem,GABA providesthebalanceto themanyexcitatorychemicalsproducedin thebody.
13
SECONDCHAKRA GLANDS
Gonads: Moving up to the secondchakra,we havethe gonads- testesfor men, ovaries for women. The testesproducenot only sperm, the foundationfor reproduction, but also testosterone- the mainhormone that physiologically distinguishesmenfrom women. In addition, in men aboutone thirdof their total DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone)isproducedin the testes.(Women do not produceDHEA in the ovaries.) We will examine thisimportanthormonein greaterlength later as it isthe hormonemost responsiblefor overall healthandlongevity.
The ovaries producenot only the ova or eggs, which are responsiblefor reproduction, but alsoestrogen.Therearethreeforms of estrogen:estrone, estrodiol, andestriol, andit is ultimatelythebalancebetweenthesethreethat determinesthe benefitstothe womanthat estrogenprovides:maintenanceofthe breast, ovary, and uterus;mood; and an overallsenseof femininity.
Women also produce progesteronein theovaries. Progesteroneis a major precursor ofcortisone, testosterone, and estrogen. It is thedecline in the production of progesteronethat isresponsiblefor menopause.

THIRD CHAKRA GLANDSAdrenal glands: In the third chakra the mostimportant glands are the adrenals.Thesevery tinyorgans are located on top of the kidneys. Theyproduce a wide variety of hormones, the mostimportant of which are norepinephrine andepinephrine, the two that are commonly called"adrenaline."Theseareresponsiblefor "fight or flight:'
TheadrenalglandsalsoproduceDHEA, whichwepersonally consider the single most importantchemicalin the humanbody as it is a reflection ofyour life energyor stressreserves.DHEA theoretically reachesits peakin the 20s and to someextentdeclinesthroughoutlife. However,healthy80- and90-year-oldsoften have much higher levels thanunhealthy30-year-olds.
We havenow lookedat manyhundredsof DHEAlevelsin awide varietyof individuals. We believethatany woman who has a DHEA level below 550 ng(nanograms)/dL(deciliters)andanymanwith levelsbelow 750 ng/dL is increasinglyat risk for a widevariety of illnesses, including diabetes, high bloodpressure, heartdisease, cancer, andso on. Whenthelevelsgobelow130ng/dL for awomanand180ng/dLfor a man, thenan evenmoreseriousrisk is at hand.
When the levelsareabove130 ng/dL in a womanor 180 ng/dL in a man, then there are severaltechniques we have for assisting the body inrestoring its own DHEA levels. These includestimulationof the Ring of Fire; naturalprogesteronecream; Dr. Shealy'sYouth Formula; and Yinergy®Oil. These are the best natural stimuli of DHEAproduction.TheycanbeusedasreplacementDHEAfor at least three months. At that time, an attemptshould be made to wean the individual from thereplacementDHEA to seeif the body can maintainit on its own. Theremaybeno singleapproachthatcan do more to restore health than getting the

STUDY GUIDE
DHEA levelsup to 550 ng/dL or abovein a womanand750 ng/dL or abovein a man.
The adrenal glands also produce cortisone (orcortisol). This is anotheressentialhormonefor lifeitself. The balance between cortisol and DHEAdetermineshow well you adjust to all the variousphysical, chemical, andemotionalstressorsof life.
In addition, the adrenal glands produce ahormonecalledaldosterone, which is responsibleforwaterand mineralbalancein the bloodstream.Andfinally, the adrenalglandsproducesmall amountsofestrogenandtestosterone.Pancreas:The pancreasis the secondmajor glandfound within the third chakra. The pancreasishighly involvedin digestion, throughtheproductionof enzymesthat help digestprotein, fat, and starch. The pancreasalso producesinsulin and glucagon, themajorchemicalsresponsiblefor balancingbloodsugar. Insulin is responsiblefor lowering bloodsugar, while glucagon is responsiblefor raising itwhenit getstoo low. Thusthereis a delicatebalancebetween insulin and glucagon, just as there isbetweencortisol andDHEA.
FOURTH CHAKRA GLANDThymus:In chakrafour, we havethe thymusgland, which is oneof themostcritical glandsin regulatingimmune function. It produces thymosin. Interestingly, the heart is also a very major endocrinegland, producinga wide varietyof hormonesandotherneurochemicalsrelatedto sodiummetabolismaswell asthe most"nurturing" hormones:prolactinandoxytocin.
FIFTH CHAKRA GLANDSThyroid: The thyroid gland produces thyroidhormone, which is a major regulator of overallmetabolism. Thyroid also produces calcitonin, a
THE SCIENCE OF MEDICAL INTUITION
hormone that is responsiblefor maintammgtheskeletalsystem, and regulatesthebalanceof calciumin the skeleton. Interestingly, calcitonin is also apotentpain reliever- milligram for milligram, it is40 to 50 timesaspowerful asmorphine.Parathyroid: The parathyroid producesparathormone, which regulatesthe blood level of calciumandits ultimatedepositionin bone.
SIXTH CHAKRA GLANDSBrain: In thesixth chakrawe havethebrain, thefinalcontrol centerfor everythingin thebody. The majorglandhereis the pituitary, which is essentiallya tinyappendageat the baseof the brain. However, thebrain itself produces a number of importanthormones and chemicals. One of these isanandamide, the hormone closely related to thesensoryexperienceof "bliss." As Buryl Paynesaidalmost30 years, this hormoneappearsto be relatedto "getting therewithout drugs:'
Another well-known hormoneproducedin thebrain is dopamine.Dopamineis the precursorfirstfor norepinephrineand then for epinephrine.Dopamine is also markedly involved in mood.Individuals who have excessiveanxiety appeartohave a higher productionof dopamine. When thebrain loses its ability to produce dopamine, individuals may begin to experiencedifficulty suchasParkinsonism.
Another major mood neurochemicalis norepinephrine. Norepinephrineis produced in manyareasof the brain, in the adrenalgland, and in thesympatheticnervous system. Norepinephrineandepinephrineare the major neurochemicalsof thesympathetic nervous system. Although it is themajor neurochemical released during a stressresponse, norepinephrineis also markedlyinvolvedin feelingsof anxiety, happiness,or depression.
16
Next in the sixth chakrawe find acetylcholine, which is producednot only in the brain but inmanypartsof the nervoussystem.Acetylcholineisthe major neurochemicalassociatedwith theparasympatheticnervoussystem.Acetylcholine isalsoresponsiblefor muscletoneor lack thereofandinterestingly is very much involved in memory.Cholinesteraseis the enzymethat destroysacetylcholine, andthere'sa very delicatebalancebetweenacetylcholine and cholinesteraseessential for allmuscleactivity, includingbreathing.
Finally, there are a number of small moleculesproducedin thesixth chakracalledenkephalins.Thesearesmallcollectionsof aminoacidsthatareextremelymetabolically active. The best known is betaendorphin- the "natural narcotic." Many differentones have various functions and are extremelyimportantin moodandin immunefunction.
The body, brain, and mind essentiallyproduceevery chemicalthat can influence health or mood.Virtually all known hormonesand neurochemicalsthatwereoncethoughtto beproducedexclusivelyinthe brain are now known to be producedin whiteblood cells and in the intestines. All are part of thisholographicinterrelationshipfound at everylevel ofthe bodymind.
Pituitary - anterior: In the anterior pituitary wehaveeither the productionand/orthe releaseof awide variety of hormones. This includes thehormonesthat releasethyroid (thyroid-stimulatinghormone);prolactin;oxytocin;ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone), which controls release ofcortisone, and, interestingly, contains betaendorphin; and both follicle-stimulating andluteinizing hormone, which control theproductionof spermor ova andthe productionofestrogenor testosterone.
Prolactin, which is associatedwith releaseof milkin lactating mothers, is fascinatingly very muchrelated to a senseof nurturing and is producedequally in men and women in a significant loving, nurturingrelationship.Thesameis trueof oxytocin,a hormone that was originally thought to beprimarily relatedto deliveryof a child but is alsosignificantly increasedand releasedinto the bloodduringa loving relationship(namelyaftersex).
The anterior pituitary also releases growthhormone, which is particularlyimportantin normalgrowth before adulthood but after adulthoodremains critically important in maintenanceofmusclebulk and tone, andoverall regulationof thepancreasandglucosemetabolism.Pituitary - posterior: The posteriorpituitary glandproducesantidiuretichormone, which is ultimatelyessentialfor maintainingwaterbalanceandthe totalconcentrationof theblood itself.Hypothalamus: Also locatedin thebrain, thehypothalamusproducesa wide variety of hormones, inparticular the "releasing" hormones, which areresponsiblefor the releaseof thosehormonesthatstimulatethe glandsin the bodyitself.Pineal: The pineal gland, located almost in thecenterof the brain, and consideredby many to bethe "seat of the soul," produces melatonin.Melatonin is strongly influenced by light anddarknessand is actually made out of seratonin.Seratoninis one of the two major mood neurochemicals. It is manufacturedfrom tryptophan, anessential amino acid, but also requires lithium, vitamin B-6, and vitamin B-3. Seratonin is verystrikingly related to happiness. The seratonin/melatoninrelationshipis responsiblefor sleepandalertness.Seratoninis also involved in a variety ofother situations, most particularly in migraineheadaches, where abnormalitiesof seratonin areresponsiblefor the developmentof a migraine.
