Why the need for 2030 Agenda?

• The MDGs set out goals mainly for developingcountries, to which rich countries providedassistance through finance and technology.

• In contrast, the SDGs are “universal goals” that applyto all countries and “involve the entire world, developed and developing countries alike”.

• The 2030 Agenda is not about what the rich shoulddo for the poor, but what all countries togethershould do for the global well‐being of this generationand those to come.
