It’s been 25 years since a majority of the world's living Nobel Laureates signed a warning letter about the anthropocentric (i.e. human) destruction of life on the Earth, and now the global scientific

He called himself Jesus of Nazareth, but he was named by his disciples as “Christ,” which is an ancient Greek word meaning “the anointed.” Following the recipe for holy anointing oil given from God to Moses in the Old Testament (Exodus 30: 22-23), Jesus would infuse nine pounds of cannabis, known in ancient Hebrew as “kannabus” (fragrant cane), into about six quarts of olive oil, along with extracts of myrrh, cinnamon, and cassia. According to Wikipedia, a three year probation and acculturation period was required for all voting Essene members, who would take an oath that included the commitment to practice piety towards "the Deity" (Mother Earth) and the “Spirit of Life” that lives within all animals. Their activities included water purification practices, which were supported by sophisicated rainwater catchment and clay storage systems. Harvard medical professor Lester Grinspoon spent many decades researching the medical history of cannabis since civilization began some 10,000 years ago, and found that that cannabis was a highly-nutritious food and medicine that had been successfully used to treat over 200 different medical ailments -- including chronic pain, cancer, eye disease, menstrual cramps, asthma, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, and life-threatening seizures in both adults and children. Cannabis is the only natural and non-toxic “superdrug,” food, plastic, fuel and medicine that could fundamentally eliminate the highly-toxic oil-based fuels and increasingly expensive pharmaceutical drugs, which are bankrupting millions of patients and America with over $27 trillion in unfunded liabilities just for Medicare in 2017. There is also the over $20 trillion National Debt that is now increasing at the rate of over $2.4 billion every day – as America’s debt payments exceed its GDP. In the second warning letter to the globe, more than 15,000 scientists from 184 countries said humans had 'unleashed a mass extinction event, the sixth in roughly 540 million years' The letter, originally written in 1992 argued human impacts on the natural world were likely to lead to 'vast human misery' and a planet that was 'irretrievably mutilated'. But a quarter of a century since a majority of the world's living Nobel Laureates united to sign a warning letter about the Earth, scientists argued too little was being done. They pointed out that in the past 25 years:

The amount of fresh water available per head of population worldwide has reduced by 26%.

The number of ocean 'dead zones' - places where little can live because of pollution and

oxygen starvation - has increased by 75%.

Nearly 300 million acres of forest have been lost, mostly to make way for agricultural land.

Global carbon emissions and average temperatures have shown significant increases.

Human population has risen by 35%.

Collectively the number of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and fish in the world has

fallen by 29 per cent.

The message, posted online, updates an original Warning from the Union of Concerned Scientists and around 1,700 signatories delivered in 1992.
