selfie /’selfē/ noun. (plural selfies). informal. A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website: occasional selfies are acceptable, but posting a new picture of yourself every day isn’t necessary #

Why have selfies become such a predominant part of

our everyday lives? �

What message are people really trying to communicate by taking and posting a selfie?

a psychological concept that suggests we develop our sense of self though the perceptions of others.  

We are using selfies as a way of

under-standing how we are

perceived by the world…

…And we can decide if we like that perception.

If we don’t like it, we have the ability to  change  and shape

our social  identity.

VARIOUS ANGLES, CROPPING, BLURRING…

Innumerable selfies are taken yet never posted because they are not satisfactory. They do not live up to the poster’s social identity or send the intended message.

Selfies have the potential to tread dangerous waters of issues

of self-esteem and comparison that could lead to greater

psychological issues, such as depression.

Should  the  nega.ves  of  selfies  deter  us  from  joining  in  on  this  digital  phenomena?

digital culture or a sad form of exhibitionism, maybe we’re better off

seeing selfies for what they are at their best — a kind

of visual diary.”

Selfies are a way of us telling our STORIES.

Selfies allow us to share a glimpse of where we’ve been, what we do and who we are

with the world.
