GATHERING TOGETHER
MARCH OF PALMS: #89—Hosanna, Loud Hosanna WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS SHARING JOYS AND CONCERNS PRELUDE: Palm Sunday Celebration, Children's Bells CALL TO WORSHIP: based on Hebrews 12:1-3 Tom Dawson
Leader: Let us fix our eyes on Jesus... People: The author and perfector of our faith... Leader: Who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame... People: And he sat down at the right hand of God. Leader: Let us consider him who endured such opposition from sinful people... People: So that we will not grow weary and lose heart.
* GATHERING SONG: #78—Alas! And Did My Savior Bleed * PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (unison) Tom Dawson O Lord, who on this day entered the city that soon rejected you, we confess that our wills are as conflicted as Jerusalem's, that our faith is often more show than substance, and that our hearts are in need of cleansing. Savior of our lives, have mercy on us. We lay at your feet all that we have and all that we are, trusting you to forgive what is sinful, asking you to heal what is broken, and seeking your renewal of what is glorious. By the power of your cross, we silently confess to you... SILENT CONFESSION ASSURANCE OF PARDON * GREETING ONE ANOTHER: Leader: May the peace of Christ be with you.
People: And also with you. * CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE: Embrace the Cross, by John G. Elliott
I am crucified with Christ, therefore I no longer live. Jesus Christ now lives in me. (repeat)
