Hi Fashion’s Quilters’ Quarter Inch... by Trista Pike

Big Thanks to all who joined us with Pam Damour, the “Decorating Diva.” With her energy and our great group it turned out to be a fantastic time together. Some new serger owners may have felt like they were drinking from the fire hose, however, they did a great job jumping right in!

Up next, I added a serger project class in July, “How to Hem,” and a second class is scheduled for August, “Foot Play.” I will be fresh up on all things Baby Lock as Jeff and myself are getting back from Baby Lock Tech a couple days before the August class.

Lorraine and Angela are back from Quilt Market, it is SEW fun to see all the great things they brought back, YAY! Florida in June, Jeff and Angela are attending Bernina University. I am sure they will have all kinds of new information for all “Bernina Girls.”

Keeping up on training, Lorraine will be bringing back great Janome information this summer as well.

As always, thank you to our entire team here; it takes all of us to keep these wheels turning and I am grateful to be surrounded by such great people.

Cheers, and Happy Fall.

Triple Straight Stitch

We are not a big fan of heavy duty nylon thread and huge needles in regular sewing machines. Extra thick threads play havoc with the tension units and bobbin cases in domestic machines. But, there is a solution. Most modern machines have a stitch called “Triple Straight Stitch” which put three threads in the same stitch hole. See the picture; on the left is a regular straight stitch and on the right is the triple. A perfect application is repairing a seam on a couch cushion or a strap on a backpack. It also looks great on the hem of your blue jeans. We recommend a size 14 Jeans & Denim needle and standard sewing thread. Jeff even repaired a vehicle tow strap with this stitch, and it pulled a car!

Happy Sewing!

If you’ve struggled with free motion quilting, you may consider giving your walking foot a chance, and get some of those quilt tops finished! Our goal will be to finish 16 samples of various walking foot designs and techniques. This is a two-part class.Skill Level: Advanced BeginnerDates: Tuesday & Wednesday, August 27 & 28
