Ash Wednesday Protocols Due to the health crisis gripping our world this year, the Archdiocese of Chicago has directed the priests and deacons to distribute ashes by sprinkling them on top of each person’s head. Ashes will be sprinkled in this manner to avoid physical contact from person to person. As I reflect on this decision, I am reminded that this is the way people put ashes on them-selves in biblical times, so we come full circle……. Be assured that this manner of receiving ashes is in keeping with our tradition. Ashes will be distributed after the 6:30 and 8:10 morning Masses, at 12:00 noon and 3:30 p.m. with no Mass, and finally after the 6:30 evening Mass for the Souls in Purgatory.

Protocolos del Miércoles de Ceniza

The school children surprised Father Bart with a special appreciation ceremony thanking him for all he does for our school. Student representatives from all grades presented him with a speech and a card signed by all the children and teachers. Father Bart was then treated to a fun pizza lunch with the staff. Thank you Father Bart! We are grateful for ALL you do for our wonderful school!!

Blessing of Throats

On the feast day of St. Blaise, students' throats were blessed after Mass. Afterwards, Fr. Bart went around to all of the classrooms to bless the children and their teachers.

Candelmas

Candlemas, also known as the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus Christ, was celebrated with the blessing of candles before the Junior High Mass. Father Bart told the students the blessed candles serve as a symbol of Jesus Christ, who referred to Himself as the Light of the World.

Escuela San Odilo Gracias Padre Bart

Los niños de la escuela sorprendieron al Padre Bart con una ceremonia especial de agradecimien-to por todo lo que hace por nuestra escuela. Representantes de estudiantes de todos los grados le presentaron un discurso y una tarjeta firmada por todos los niños y maestros. We will celebrate Mass in the Traditional Latin form on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:10 am with the school children beginning February 22nd. Mass will be celebrated in the Ordinary form in English on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 8:10 am. This change is being made so the school children will be intro-duced to and learn the ancient form of the Mass as well as the new. All parishioners are welcome.
