Welcome To The Party! The tax has influenced the foreign purchases here on the North Shore as well as in Greater Vancouver. However, it is interesting to note while prices dropped immediately following the Foreign Buyer Tax Announcement they have remained reasonably stable every since. The exception to this is in the ‘Attached’ housing market which includes both townhomes and condominiums. This market has remained incredibly hot! Statistically, sales fell 8.2% from July of 2016 and we had a 10% increase in the supply of homes for sale. Both numbers are far closer to historical levels we see at this time of year and are bringing things back to more of a ‘balanced’ market. Things are not quite as frenzied in terms of multiple offers and very quick subject-free sales. But simply put, if our home is priced correctly it will sell in a reasonable length of time.
