The Solar System.

• The solar system consists of nine different planets that orbit the sun. These are:

• Mercury,• Venus,• Earth,• Mars,• Jupiter,• Saturn,• Uranus,• Neptune,• And Pluto.

Introduction.

• Hello, today we are going to talking to you about the solar system. We have chosen three different planets to research about. We are also researching their similarities and differences. Plus stars and constellations.

Mars.• Mars is the fourth

planet of the solar system and is the fourth planet nearest to the sun. It is red due to iron oxide, so is often referred to as the ‘red planet’. It takes 686.971 days to orbit the sun. Mars has the largest mountain in the solar system, called the Olympic Mons, it is twice the height of Mount Everest..

Hii, I am Ooozoog, and

this is my home planet, Mars.

Jupiter.• Jupiter is the largest

and fifth planet in the solar system. It is made up gas, and along with some other planets is called a ‘gas giant’. It takes 4331.572 days to orbit the sun. Jupiter hasn’t got a solid surface and is a cold place, because it is made up of liquid hydrogen over liquid metallic hydrogen. It has a raging storm for the last 300 years!

Hii, my name is Shoombaa,

this is my home planet

Jupiter.

Saturn.• Saturn is the sixth

planet from the Sun and the second largest planet in the Solar System. It is also classed as a ‘gas giant’. It takes Saturn 10759.22 days to orbit the sun. its shape is not spherical; its height is about 10% shorter than its width. Saturn's beautiful rings are not solid, they are made of billions of small pieces of ice and rock.

Hii, my name is Gheph, this is my

home planet, Saturn.

Similarities.

• Saturn and Jupiter are both classed as ‘gas giants’.

• Mars is very similar to Earth with its tilt and make up.

• Both Jupiter and Saturn have rings but it is hard to see Jupiter’s as they are made up of dark carbon matter.

Differences.

•They are all unique in their different ways, therefore have too many differences to say.

Stars. • A star is a big ball of gas in outer space, made

mostly of hydrogen and a little bit of helium plus other elements. In the center, the force of gravity is so intense that the temperatures are high enough for the atoms to "fuse" together, causing nuclear fusion. This energy slowly leaks out of the star (over a few hundred thousand years in the case of the sun), and by the time it gets to the surface most of this energy is in the form of visible light. Most stars look like shiny dots from Earth, because they are far away. Our Sun is the closest star to us. The earth moves around the Sun in an oval shape. Jupiter is also a failed star .

Constellations.

•A constellation is a group of stars. Together, the stars look like a picture. Some examples of constellations are Ursa Major, Orion, and Andromeda.

BYEEEEEE!Come back sooooooon!
