BURNHAM YACHT CLUBAn interesting series of races took place at Burnham on
Saturday in the 12 ft. International D in gh y C lass, between a team of three m em bers of the Burnham Yacht Club and a team of three m em bers of the R a n elag h S a ilin g Club. T here w ere two races, one in the m orning and one in the afternoon. Both were won by the Burnham representatives, that in the m orning by three points and that in the a fternoon by nine points. CROUCH YACHT CLUB
T h e club had a spoon competition for their O ne-D esign C lass on Saturday.' 1 he race took place over a new course, the boats going up river and round a m ark moored nearly opposite Canew don Church. T h e starters at 4 .1 5 w ere: E lf, M essrs. L . L ow ry and W . Tow nend; Peter Pan, Mr. A. S. Porter; and Pengw erne, Mr. W . E. Brow n. Peter Pan had the worst of the start, but she won a som ew hat tedious race by nearly half an hour from E lf, as follow s :

WALTON AND FRINTON YACHT CLUB
R acin g took place in a strong northerly breeze on Friday last w eek for the G em dinghies w ith ladies at the helm ancl for the O ne-D esign iS-footers.
In the lad ies’ race the starters w ere: A gate, Miss D . F. Harney; Jasper, Miss V . W ilson; O pal, Miss IL C h adw ick. T h e helm swom en showed great pluck in sailin g their little craft in w eather so boisterous as to necessitate two reefs being hauled down. O pal got into difficulties with the mud and did not finish. Jasper won easily, and A gate w as timed in 13 min. to sec. later.
In the 18-footer class the follow ing boats com peted: D a ffodil, Mr. R. F. G arnham : B ila n b el, Messrs. J. B. C on ly ami R. H. Palm er; Pierce Eye, Mr. P. Cole; and Cinders, Mr. E. A. W iggin s. T h e order of finish w as : Daffodil first, Cinders second, Pierce E ye third, B ilanbel fourth.
In the race for ladies on Saturday the starters in the Gem D in gh y C lass were A gate . Miss D. F. H a m er ; P ea rl, Miss P. Bacon : Jasper, Miss V . W ilson ; O pal, Miss H. C h ad wick : A m ethyst. Miss N. Robinson. Jasper was again first. O pal second, P earl third, A gate fourth, and A m ethyst fifth.

T he Solent Y a ch t C lub w ere at home for the 6-metre International C lass on jffn e I j j but only three boats accepted the invitation, viz., Zenith, T histle, and Reg. A fresh southw esterly breeze w as blow ing, w hich demanded single reefed m ainsails. T h ey started at noon, and the course w as twice round the B lack R ock, Lym ington Spit, and Solent Banks Buoys. Reg and T histle made a good start, but Zenith was a little too soon for the gun, and the recross cost her over a minute. T h e w ind w as ahead to the first m ark, where Reg w as leading boat. Spinnakers were set to port for a run to the Lvm ington Spit, w here they gybed and had another run to the Solent B an ks. At this m ark R eg w as still leading and Zenith w as alm ost level with T histle. T h ey worked short tacks along the shore, and after a great fight Zenith weathered T histle before the end of the round, where Reg w as leading the second boat bv 3 min. 22 sec. Zenith gained on the leader during the second round, especially in the wind-

T h e Royal Southam pton Y ach t C lub were favoured wit glorious w eather for their opening regatta, held at H ythe > Saturday. T h ere was very little wind at the start, and tl first rounds were sailed in fluky airs that cam e from all rout the compass, resulting in a number of flukes. Zenith b. a stroke of bad luck in going ashore w hen leading at the er of the first round, while T histle lost third position earlier the race from the same cause. A w elcom e w esterly hiee filled in for the final rounds and brought the boats hon much earlier than w as expected. D etails :
