the soo chimes · mckinley manor 2023 west 4th avenue ... wednesday evening rehearsals are over for...
TRANSCRIPT
Today was a pretty good day for
weather in the Soo. The sun actually
came and was not missing in action.
We have had so many dark drizzly days
lately. Not to mention we have been
about 10 degrees colder than average.
We probably should not complain
much. The news is full of individuals in
our country who are struggling with
real weather issues.
It is nice, though, when the sun
comes out. It can really change our
feelings and help us start the day. In
1 John 1:4-5 we are told, “We write
these things so our joy maybe
complete. And this is the message we
have heard from Him and announce to
you: God is light, and in Him there is
no darkness at all. Light was even more
important in John’s day due to the
limited nature of artificial lighting. In
comparing God to Light, John was
reminding us of our daily need for God.
People’s lives and work were built
around the availability of sunlight.
We certainly hope the sun
decides to be our summer companion
giving us plenty of good days. This is
something we have little control over.
What is within our grasp is the spiritual
light God can shed in our lives. As we
seek and hopefully enjoy the sun in all
of our activities this summer, let us
remember to seek the light, the true
light. Let us seize our opportunities this
summer with; worship, prayer, reading
the Bible and basking in the wonder of
God’s creation let us seek God’s light.
The summer will not only be a
time to enjoy God’s creation, but to
draw closer to the Light of Life.
Peace in Christ,
Mark

Our Sunday
Worship Service
starts at 10:00 a.m.
We hope to see you
on Sundays!
The Office will
closed
July 1st - 5th
Office will be
closed on Fridays
from June 16th
through
August and 30th.
See you in
the fall!
The Deacons are excited to be part of Meijer's Simply Give campaign this
spring. The campaign is currently taking donations through June 22. For
every $10 that is donated to Simply Give, Meijer will match it for a total
value of $20 for Food Pantry funds.
On Friday, June 14, Meijer will double the match! Please keep us in mind
when you shop at Meijer and help our Food Pantry grow. Donations made
at the Sault location will go directly to our church's pantry.
Your support has helped us serve our community through the Food Pantry for patrons from
Sugar Island to Kinross, as well as the Backpack Program at Sault Area Middle School up to
22 or more students.
Because Meijer's program was so successful last year, we received a bonus of $5000 in food
cards in April. We look forward to continuing our mission to feed God's children.
With blessings and a big thank you,
the Deacons

“Do” diligence
Against the backdrop of people who avoid work, cut corners and do half-hearted jobs, a diligent [person] stands out. Practicing diligence is an excellent way to stand out for Christ at home, in the workplace and even at church. Today, complete each one of your tasks, however big or small, with diligence.
—David Jeremiah
Happy Father’s Day!
Our church building is no longer a temporary building, after it was totally burned to the ground. Our building is unique because God was the builder. Jesus Christ is the corner stone. You
and I are the building materials, chosen, regal, and holy. We continue to speak the mighty and glorious deeds of the builder.
Builders build for a specific reason don’t they? The holy spirit built us into a house; first to offer sacrifices from our hearts. We offer God our worship and our praise. We offer one another our charity, our mutual sharing, which is our offering of our graces for the common good.
The Holy Spirit may come as gently as a dove,
as astonishingly as Jesus showing up on Easter evening among the disciples in a locked room and breathing the Holy Spirit on them, or as powerfully as fire and wind unleashed among us as we sit in the choir loft or in our pews. God can and does move among us.
The Holy Spirit comes to fill us, to transform us, and change us. Pentecost follows 50 days after Easter and 10 days after the Ascension when Jesus returned to heaven.
If Jesus just happened to appear at our church this June he is certain to say, “Well done good and faithful servants. You have learned what I want you to know.”
