This book is meant to serve as an introduction to the ideas and practices ofdowsing as energy medicine. The topics include how to use dowsing to gainnew information, as well as to promote your own health and happiness and the well-being of those around you.
whAt these energy cLeAring protocoLs cAn do for you
It is my belief that by becoming aware of the different characteristics of energypulses and patterns in our bodies and in our spaces, we can dowse problems onan energetic level before they manifest on a physical level as pain or disease.
According to Mary Jo Ruggieri PhD., RPP, in her article Science Meets Energy,“… the research surrounding the practices of energy medicine is profound. Results of numerous studies show energy therapies can relieve pain, speed uphealing from trauma-based injuries, positively affect people during surgery aswell as influence the healing process of cancers, arthritis, fibromyalgia andmany other auto-immune problems.”
These energy clearing protocols are meant to empower you to change theenergy in your life and in turn, for you to help those around you change theenergy in their lives.
Most of the topics discussed in this work deal with the various kinds of non-beneficial energies that may affect us, and ways to neutralize their unwantedinfluences. Each topic has an explanation of the techniques involved, followedby simple, easy-to-follow instructions on how to use them.
We do not claim to know the reasons why energies shift and change, only thatthey do.
My sincere wish is to encourage, enrich and empower your practice. Happy dowsing!
note: I have had the privilege of working with master dowsers GeorgeConley and Raymon Grace. I gratefully acknowledge what I have been taughtand it is not my intention to copy or duplicate in any way the work that hasbeen done so beautifully by them. I have enhanced, simplified and adoptedthe various charts and techniques taught to me and made them my own. Thisguide is my own interpretation of the things that I have learned and iswritten with the intent of giving a beginning class in dowsing and shall beread in the spirit of that intent. The mentioning of my respected teachersshould in no way be seen as their endorsement of any kind, but as anacknowledgement of their work.

whAt is dowsing?
Dowsing is an art and a science that creates a bridge to the subconscious mind through the useof a pendulum or other instruments/tools. Dowsers are able to use that bridge to gain access toinformation not normally available to the waking consciousness.
It has been said that dowsing is like mother’s intuition with a readout device1.
how does it work?
Energy can be thought of as an essence, and its various manifestations can be thought of as itsuses or applications. For instance electricity is the essence, its application or manifestation isthe refrigerator, computer or vacuum cleaner.
Energies around us can influence us in different ways. For example, positive or negativethoughts can manifest as happiness or sadness, or physical sensations, such as pain or pressure, which can make us feel well or not well. For most of us, these energies are invisible to the nakedeye, but we experience their tangible effects.
Dowsers can detect these energies and can adjust or alter them through focused intent andconnection to their dowsing system. With experience, dowsers develop greater levels of focusand intent, and achieve better and sometimes longer-lasting results, creating harmony andbalance, promoting good health, and infusing their surroundings with beneficial energies.
Dowsing is a practical skill that anyone who wishes to optimize his/her health and well-beingcan learn.
A Brief history of dowsing
Dowsing has been around for centuries, possibly millennia. Herodotus the Greek reported the use of forked sticks to find water while he was in Scythia, north of the Black Sea, circa 500BC. Ancient coins, from at least as early as 936 AD, have been found with depictions of dowsing sticks.
In a bas-relief, the emperor Ta Yu of China, born 2,205 years before Christ, is representedholding a double-branched instrument which some believe represents the earliest example of aforked dowsing rod.
Basil Valentine, a Benedictine monk and alchemist in the thirteen hundreds in Saxony leftinstructions on how to use rods. In 17th century England, Queen Elizabeth I used dowsers tofind mineral ore to enrich British coffers.

In modern times, dowsing has been used to find oil, submarines, land mines, water, minerals, and numerous other substances. It has been said that Albert Einstein was fascinated withdowsing and believed it could be used as an aid in scientific discovery.

your dowsing system
Your dowsing system is unique to you. It consists of your spirit guides (what some people wouldconsider angels, teachers or helpers) who aid in your pursuit of dowsing.
As your relationship with your dowsing system develops, your intuition will increase.
Your dowsing system is a magnificent entity that will work with you to help you gain clarity andconfidence with practice and patience.
finding your penduLum
The basic form and structure of a pendulum is a weight on a string or a chain. Pendulums comein a variety of forms, from the simple to the ornate. The quality of materials or construction ofyour pendulum matters less than your connection to it—just about anything will work. I have afriend who is an exceptional dowser; he keeps a key on a string in his desk for times when heneeds to dowse at work.
Start with a simple pendulum that is relatively lightweight. A heavy pendulum can make itharder for a beginner to read answers properly and make it difficult to move. For more accuratenumber readings, choose a pendulum with a point at the bottom.
For first time pendulum buyers shopping online can be tricky. One of my beginning studentsbought a very big metal pendulum online that was too heavy for her to work with. Though it didlook very “cool” it was impractical for her to practice with and develop her skills.
The spIrIT of dowsIng: a begInner’s guIde 11
There are many methods to finding a pendulum; the one listed below is one of many options.
one method for finding your pendulum match:Look first; note which pendulums draw your attention.
Pick up the ones you are drawn to, one at a time, and ask the pendulum 3 simple questions:
Are you in service to the light?**Light and dark both come from God / Source, and according to Hindu and Buddhistphilosophy, are both part of the inevitable duality of this earth plane. It is important tounderstand that without the dark, we would not be able to see the light.
If “Yes” (up-and-down, or vertical swing), go on to the next question
If “No” (side-to-side, or horizontal swing)—this is rare—put it down and pick up the next onethat catches your eye.
do you want to work with me? If “Yes” (up-and-down, or vertical swing), go on to the last question.
If “No” (side-to-side, or horizontal swing), put it down, pick up the next pendulum and startover.
on a scale of 1-10 how much do you want to work with me?Start the pendulum swinging in the “No” position (side-to-side, or horizontal swing) and ask thenumbers in sequence, 1-10, you will get a “Yes” (up-and-down, or vertical swing) when you hitthe correct number value.
If the number value dowsed is a 7 or below, try a different pendulum.
Look for the one that is a 10 for you. If you don’t find it in one shop keep looking. The rightpendulum match is out there for you and you will find it.

code of ethics And good prActices
There is a code of ethics associated with dowsing. The spirit of the code is that dowsers are touse their skills for the greatest good of all. It is important to maintain objectivity, honesty andpersonal privacy when dowsing with or for another.
the code of ethicAL conduct of the British society of dowsers
The British Society of Dowsers supports, encourages and promotes dowsing and dowsers in amanner consistent with the highest standards of personal integrity and behaviour.
Many people who are dowsers or who learn to dowse, find the practice of dowsing to be ofimmense help and benefit in their personal and professional lives, and as their confidence growsmay also offer their service as dowsers to the community at large.
The reputation and usefulness of dowsing depends on the public image of dowsing, and thus onthe behaviour of dowsers. When we perform dowsing in public or when we dowse for otherpeople, we represent not only ourselves but also the wider body of dowsers as a whole. It isimportant, therefore, that when engaged in dowsing activities, we maintain good standards ofbehaviour and practice. Essential elements of this are competence, good relationships withpeople for whom you may dowse, good relationships with other dowsers and observance ofethical obligations.
1. dowsing wiseLy.
In your dowsing generally, and when people seek your assistance as a dowser, keep yourdowsing focussed on issues of genuine need.
Recognise and work within the limits of your competence and refer to another practitioner orother source if necessary.
2. dowsing with respect.
Only dowse for information that concerns you personally or that lies within an area of publicconcern, unless you are asked or given permission by other people to dowse either for thempersonally or for groups or organizations of which they are members. Do not dowse forinformation about other people or their concerns without their permission, unless it is clearly inthe interest of the highest common good to do so and do not make unsolicited comments aboutother people or their concerns based on your dowsing.
14
2before we begInChapTer
Always treat people requesting information about dowsing or who ask you to dowse politely andconsiderately. When dowsing for others, respect their views, their dignity and their privacy, andprotect personal or confidential information of which you may become aware. Explain what youare doing, give your conclusions and advice in a manner that they can understand and respecttheir right to consent to or to decline what you offer or advise.
Make sure that your personal beliefs do not prejudice your interactions with other people whenyou are dowsing, or with the people for whom you dowse – you must not allow your views aboutanyone’s lifestyle, culture, belief, race, colour, gender, sexuality, age, social status or perceivedeconomic worth to prejudice your dowsing.
3. trustworthy dowsing.
Honest and trustworthy behaviour is expected from every dowser and it is most important thatyou avoid abusing your position as a dowser.
Be careful not to use your position as a dowser to create or establish improper relationships, either personal or financial. Never misuse privileged information that you may obtain throughdowsing. If people seek your assistance as a dowser, be careful to use your dowsing only for theirgenuine benefit, give guidance and recommendations that you believe to be in their bestinterests and share with them all relevant information that you may discover.
4. providing informAtion ABout dowsing.
When providing information about dowsing, it must be factual and verifiable. Avoid sensationalor misleading statements, and be mindful of the likely accuracy and completeness of yourdowsing as well as of the effects that your information may have on other people as well as onpublic opinion generally. If dowsing for health or therapies of any kind, you must not offerguarantees of cures, nor exploit people’s vulnerability or lack of knowledge, nor put pressure onpeople to use a service, for example by arousing fear for their future health or well-being. Youmust not make claims about the comparative quality of your dowsing nor compare your abilitieswith those of other dowsers.
5. respecting reLAtionships with other dowsers.
Be open and fair with other dowsers, and be willing to consult with them. You must neverdiscriminate unfairly against other dowsers, or allow your views of their lifestyle, culture, belief, race, colour, gender, sexuality, age, or social status to prejudice your relationship with them. You must not make anyone doubt another dowser’s knowledge or skills by making unnecessaryor unsustainable comments about them.
The spIrIT of dowsIng: a begInner’s guIde 15
6. finAnciAL And commerciAL deALings.
You must be honest in any financial and commercial matters relating to your dowsing practice. If you are receiving money for your dowsing you must inform people of all costs before youbegin and you must declare any personal commercial interest in goods or services that yourecommend.
7. LegAL issues.
You must observe any laws that affect your dowsing and obtain adequate insurance for anyaspects of your dowsing practice that requires it.
8. teAching And trAining.
The BSD encourages you to continually improve your dowsing knowledge and skills,to help the public to be aware of and understand dowsing, and to contribute to the educationand training of other dowsers.
9. the British society of dowsers.
The British Society of Dowsers exists to provide a forum for dowsers to meet and exchangeideas and experiences, to support and promote good and responsible dowsing and to provideinformation about dowsing and dowsers. The BSD Office is always happy to receive calls fromdowsers and from members of the public with dowsing related enquiries. We hope that you willsupport the Society, participate in our events, contribute to the Journal and enjoy a long andfruitful membership with us.

the neutrALity fActor
Releasing all preconceived ideas or judgments about what you think an answer might be, orwhat the “effects” could be, you will begin to notice the answers coming easily and effortlessly. The key is to be neutral, relaxed and detached. Allow your system to show you the answerswhile you watch impartially.
dedicAting yourseLf And your penduLum
This is a verbal declaration to your conscious and subconscious self, to your dowsing systemand to Higher Intelligence that your intention is to work for the greater good of all.
By making the following statement, or something similar, you are acknowledging your intent tobring forth wisdom from Source, Higher Intelligence, Great Spirit—whichever terminologyresonates with you—and to be receptive through your dowsing system.
Start the pendulum circling clockwise while saying out loud: “i dedicate myself, and the use ofthis pendulum to (infinite intelligence, god, source, great spirit—you choose), and for theHighest good of the All.”
The actual words that you use for your dedication are not as important as the sincerity behindthem. If the words I have included here don’t fit for you, feel free to change them to whateverdoes. As long as it puts you in the spirit of harmony, respect and awareness of your impact onyourself, others and the world through dowsing, it will be the right thing.
how to hoLd A penduLum
The most effective way to hold a pendulum is to place the string, cord or chain between thethumb and index finger about 2 to 2.5 inches from the top of pendulum.
If the length between the pendulum and your fingers is too great, you will have trouble with themovement of the pendulum. The 2 to 2.5 inch length will allow the energy flowing from yourfingers to be more easily accessible to the weighted pendulum and will expedite the answercoming through the pendulum to the dowsing chart.
ChapTer 2 before we begIn
18
do you need to cLeAn your penduLum?
Follow your instinct. Some people feel protective about their tools, and enjoy energeticallycleaning them. Following some cleaning rituals like soaking your crystal pendulum in a saltwater solution for a couple of hours, smudging it or laying it out in the sun for the day couldalways be helpful because you believe it to be so—and it just might very well be. Take cautionhowever; if your pendulum is a coated metal or the chain is a coated metal, it might begin tocorrode in a salt solution.
Personally, I don’t feel it necessary for me to clean my pendulum, unless I have dropped it in thedirt. I do believe that once you and your pendulum have chosen each other (see Chapter 1 topic:Finding Your Pendulum), and have begun dowsing, you will know whether or not somethingneeds to be cleaned, and it is likely not the pendulum, but an interference within you that canbe easily corrected by dowsing the energy clearing protocols for yourself. If you think there issomething not right with your pendulum, try cleaning it or consider getting a different one.
storing your penduLum
It can be a good idea to keep your pendulum in a silk pouch. Why? Because it provides you withthe sense that this is a special tool to be used judiciously, and if you subscribe to the idea, silk issaid to have the ability to keep things energetically clean.
I keep my pendulum readily accessible pretty much all the time, either right in my pocket orpurse. I do however keep extra pendulums in a pouch so I know where they are and I won’t losethem. Whether you store your pendulum in a pouch of some kind, or keep it loose and in yourpocket, whatever you choose will be just right for you.
The spIrIT of dowsIng: a begInner’s guIde 19
When reading your pendulum, the “swing to” is what you are looking for.
yes / no dowsing chArt
We will start with a simple yes/no chart:7 A “Yes” answer is an up-and-down, or vertical swing.7 A “No” answer is a side-to-side, or horizontal swing.
note: Why not have “Yes” as a clockwise rotation (circle to the right) and “No” as acounterclockwise rotation (circle to the left)? Well, in my opinion it takes too long; verticaland horizontal swings are easier and faster to read.
yes / no prActice Questions
Phrase your question in the form of a statement.
Asking simple questions that you already know the answer to ensures that you and yourdowsing system are in sync. Think of it as asking your dowsing system a true or false question.Instead of asking “Did I eat breakfast?” say “I ate breakfast.” The pendulum will then swing toindicate yes or no (that is, true or false, respectively).

Don’t worry if your pendulum doesn’t move by itself right away. Give it a little nudge in the rightdirection to start.

Practice simple “Yes” / “No” questions for a few days.
Write down your questions, and then dowse for the answers. This will help you begin to focus onthe subject and the question you are dowsing simultaneously.

For reading percentages, notice a –% sign and +% sign on ether side of the upper half of thechart. This indicates negative (–) and positive (+) percentages.
Notice that there are multiples-of-ten starting with 0 and going to 100 on the right or +%(positive percent) side. On the left or –% (negative percent) side there are multiples-of-ten 0through -100 at exactly the opposite of its counterparts on the right. Think of 0 percent asneutral. Any reading in the –% (negative percent) can be viewed as non-beneficial.

simpLified expLAnAtion of the whoLe dowsing chArt
There is one ring of numbers. For “multiples-of-ten” readings, add zeros.
For example, if you are dowsing and the reading is positive 90%, the pendulum will point to 9 onthe positive side of the chart. To determine numbers between multiples-of-ten, for examplebetween 90% and 100%, you would take an additional reading of single digits between one andnine (eg: 91 to 99).
frAming Questions
Keep your questions short and basic. Simple, clear and focused questions will achieve bestresults. Be aware of multiple meanings of words such as the word ‘miles’. It could mean ameasured distance or someone’s name (Miles). Dowsing systems tend to be pretty literal.
Once you have framed your question, ask it out loud. Does it sound ambiguous or too long?Does it have too many variables or multiple parts? Are you asking an opinion? Dowsing Systemswill not offer opinions.

informAtion coming through the penduLum
When the mind is quiet and in a relaxed state, it is open to receiving information, which in turntranslates down through the string or chain between your fingers and into the pendulum. Someexperts say the information comes into the pendulum between the forward swing and the backswing. It’s likened to the slight and almost imperceptible pause between inhaling and exhalingand that pause is the moment when inspiration comes through you and into the pendulum.
the dowsing mode
The “dowsing mode” is the place you come to when you are fully connected to yourself, yourhigher power and your dowsing system in order to receive clear information.
Finding your dowsing mode involves stillness, the meditative quality you acquire when yourbrain is functioning in what is known as the alpha state. In order to reach this state, quiet yourmind enough to slow down the brain waves, which creates a relaxed space with passiveawareness. Some might call this a self-induced hypnotic state or as UltraMind ESP System, expert Jose Silva called it, “going to level.”
Suggestions to help you find the “dowsing mode” state of mind:7 Turn off and remove distractions (cell phones, television, etc…) 7 Invite in Divine Guidance.7 Sit in stillness in a quiet place for 5 minutes or longer.7 Follow the inhalation and exhalation of your breath. 7 Invite in and thank your dowsing system for being present at this time.
Use any ritual you like that will help you quiet your mind, and help you prepare yourself toreceive information. You could chant, pray or count backwards from 10 to 1 slowly.
note: Entering the dowsing mode will become second nature to you as you become a moreproficient dowser.
tips for successfuL dowsing
Here is a list of tips that will help you establish a deeper rapport with your dowsing system:7 Before you begin dowsing, and after you are in dowsing mode, ask for Divine Guidance.7 Be grateful. Gratitude sets a nice tone for you and your system to work together. 7 Hold the pendulum away from your body—if it is too close, your body’s energy field will interfere with your answers.
7 Ask your questions out loud. This increases your clarity and focus.
24
4 geTTIng sTarTedChapTer
7 Dowse yourself first. Use the energy clearing protocols on yourself before you dowse anything or anyone else.
7 Drink water. Dehydration can interfere with your dowsing accuracy.7 In the beginning it is helpful to write down the name of your subject—even if it is you—and your question. This practice will also help you stay focused.
When performing a dowsing protocol, try following these steps:7 If necessary, nudge your pendulum a bit to get started.7 Be aware of your posture. A straight spine may help in the receiving of clear information.7 Tell your pendulum to go all the way to the exact numbers, or to give you a complete “yes”
and “no”. You are letting your system know that you need clear, unambiguous results.
the permission Questions
We suggest a few guidelines for establishing whether dowsing is appropriate and safe for you. This is done through the use of four specific permission questions. These criteria should befirmly established before any dowsing work is done.
do i have permission from source (Higher Power / God / Great Spirit)? Yes or Nonote: There is a bigger picture, circumstances you are not aware of. Therefore you may nothave permission from source to proceed.
do i have permission from the subject (person you are working with)? Yes or Nonote: For beginning dowsers, work only on yourself first. Later on, when you work withanother, the subject must be present so you can ask their permission in person. Without thesubject’s permission, your efforts would be considered an invasion of privacy and possiblyharmful to yourself.
is it in my highest good? (Do I have the ability and understanding to do the work? Am I energetically compatible with thesubject?) Yes or No
is there any reason why i shouldn’t do the work? (There could be unknown factors that would make doing the work non-beneficial for you or thesubject.) Yes or No
As a beginner, don’t skip any of these questions, even if they feel a little redundant to you. If theanswer to any of these questions is not the appropriate answer for proceeding, postpone yourdowsing to another time or let it go completely.
I strongly suggest for the next couple of months that you work on yourself and your home only.

estABLishing time, suBject, Question
There is another set of preliminary questions that come before you actually begin to dowse forinformation. While the first four are concerned with establishing whether or not you shoulddowse, the other three set the parameters of the information you are seeking. These threeparameters are time, subject and question.
time: Generally, the time of the inquiry is now—right at this moment. It may seem obvious, butyou must still explicitly state the time frame that you are asking about. This necessity arisesbecause it is possible to project inquires back in time, such as asking about yesterday, or lastweek.
subject: This is the person, place, or thing that you are inquiring about: yourself, a pet, a familymember, your home, your workplace, etc. It is recommended that you concentrate on yourselfand your home in the beginning of your practice. This will help you develop confidence and astronger bond with your dowsing system.
Question: This is the thing you want to know; the question you want answered. When you askthe question, it is recommended that you verify again the time and the subject, as this will helpyou keep your focus when dowsing.
BALAncing, neutrALizing And trAnsforming energy
The three types of changes in energy that we will be working with in this workbook are:
Balancing energy: The process of changing too much or too little energy and adjusting it to bejust right, as in balancing the chakras or polarity.
neutralizing energy: The process by which we ask that non-beneficial energies be completelystopped in their tracks and neutralized. For example, neutralizing non-beneficial effects of ACcurrent.
transforming energy: Taking existing energy and changing it into something beneficial. Forexample, transforming or changing negative energetic patterns and transforming them into love, joy and gratitude.
The spIrIT of dowsIng: a begInner’s guIde 27
The energy levels of a human or animal organism, place, plant, or object can be measured usingyour pendulum.
Originally, these energy levels were measured by what is known as the Bovis Scale.
The Bovis Scale was invented by Alfred (Antoine) Bovis, 1871-1947, a French archaeologist/physicist, who while traveling through Egypt in the 1930s, noticed a difference in the energylevels surrounding the great pyramids. He devised a meter, which he called the “Life ForceIndex,” or “Bovis Scale,” to measure this energy.
Using his units of measurement, Bovis discovered the earth puts out an energy level of 18,000 Bovis units. During his lifetime, Bovis developed an entire range of measurements usinghis system.
Dowsers have adapted and changed the “Bovis Scale” therefore, we have chosen to call themeasurement “Energy Levels” instead.
In the early 2000’s, dowsers measured the ideal human energy levels to be 27,000, howeverenergy levels are increasing rapidly at the time of this writing, so instead of asking for a numericenergy level reading, we are now asking whether the subject is at their appropriate energy level.
using the chArt to dowse for AppropriAte energy LeveL
Before we begin clearing energy, we need to establish if the subject is at their appropriate energylevel. It is important to note that everyone has a different appropriate energy level at which theyfeel their best.
To keep things easy, the best way to check is to simply ask, “Is the subject at their appropriateenergy level?”
For energy level readings, we will be using the Yes/No parts of the dowsing chart.

note: We have included complete dowsing charts throughout this book for the purpose ofpracticing with numbers, for example, time, distance, age, percentages, etc.
After inviting in Divine Guidance, going into dowsing mode and asking all permissionsquestions, you are ready to begin energy clearing for yourself, your home and your pets. Noharm can be caused by practicing these protocols, so don’t worry about overdoing it.
While practicing, if your dowsing seems inaccurate or ambiguous, feel free to put yourpendulum down and take a break. You may wish to tear out the dowsing charts (pages 57, 59,61) in the back of this book for easy referencing.
note: For the purposes of learning, the energy clearing protocols are not being taught in the order in which they will eventually be used as a complete energy clearing system. SeeChapter 12.
BALAncing your chAkrAs
Chakras are energy centers located at specific points on the physical body. While there are saidto be many chakras centers located throughout the physical body, we will only be working withthe 7 most well known, which are stacked from the base of the spine up to the top of the head.
An imbalance in any one of these energy centers will affect the energy at that point in a non-beneficial way. For example, if you have had an accident of some kind, and are feeling fear, yourfirst chakra will most likely be out of balance. Why? Because your first chakra is the energycenter that is said to govern security and survival.
Imbalanced chakras can manifest as non-beneficial behavioral changes or feelings – forexample, agitation, anxiety, anger, oppression or depression.
Below is a brief description and location of the seven most common energy centers. They are tobe balanced individually in the following order:
7th Crown Connection to source energy, relationship to power and authority, higher consciousness,
located at the top of the head.
6th Third eye Inner wisdom and knowing, located at the point between the eyebrows.
5th Throat Communication, unique self-expression, creativity, located at the throat
4th heart love, relationships, the giving and receiving of loving energies, located at the
breast bone area.
3rd solar plexus will power, seat of the emotions/ego, located at the diaphragm or solar plexus area.
2nd sacral sexuality, creativity, also related to boundaries, located below the belly button or
lower back area.
1st root security, survival, fight or flight, located at the base of the spine or tail bone.
note: Again, it is important to balance each chakra individually, starting with the 7th andgoing down to the 1st.

BALAncing with eArth energy
The earth’s energy is constantly changing for reasons beyond of our understanding.
The electromagnetic pull on the earth, human-made greenhouse gases and nature’s response tothese, may contribute to changes in the earth’s energies.
Asking the question:Am I (my home is / my pet is) in balance with the earth energy? Yes or No
if no: Please bring me (my home / my pet) into balance and harmony with earth energy.
The pendulum will spin in a clockwise direction and stop when finished.
BALAncing poLArity
We believe polarity is the concept that life energy, or the body’s electrical current, must flow inand through the body in a smooth and uninterrupted pattern in order to maintain optimalhealth. In recent history, it has been noted that people’s polarities have been spontaneouslygoing out of balance.
Imbalances in polarity may manifest as low energy, lethargy, weakness, signs of mentalagitation, and in my cat’s case, loss of appetite, even though a trip to the vet found there wasnothing diagnostically wrong with her.
Polarity is measured in percentages. You will normally get a reading in the positive percentages(+%), but it will run in the negative percentages (-%) if the polarity is out of balance.
Asking the question:To what percentage (degree) is my (my pet’s) polarity in balance? +% or -%

ideAL freQuency
It can be said that everything has a frequency – the human body, your pet, your home, and yourautomobile just to name a few.
In my dowsing practice I have noticed that when a client is off his or her ideal frequency, theydescribe a lack of balance and flow to their life.
Asking the question:Am I on my (my home is on its) ideal frequency? Yes or No
if no: Please adjust me (my home) to my/its ideal frequency.

ALternAting current
Alternating current (AC) is energy that travels through electrical wires.
We are exposed to AC current in our homes and offices every time we plug an appliance orelectronic device into a power socket (even if the device is turned off).
Energy levels and nervous systems of people, pets, and places may be negatively impacted by anover-abundance of AC current energy.
Asking the question:Are there negative effects of AC current on me (in my home / on my pet)? Yes or No
if yes: Please neutralize the negative effects of AC current on me (in my home / on my pet).
The pendulum will spin in a counter-clockwise direction and stop when finished.
eLectromAgnetic fieLds (emf)
EMFs are emitted from devices we use every day, such as cell phones and other wireless devices,as well as televisions, computers, microwaves, and other appliances commonly found in homesand offices.
Examples of EMF include radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, x-rays andgamma rays.
Possible non-beneficial effects of EMFs include low energy levels, depression and fatigue.
Asking the question:Are there negative effects of electromagnetic fields (EMF) on me (in my home / on my pet)? Yesor No
if yes: Please neutralize the negative effects of electromagnetic fields (EMF) on me (in my home/ on my pet).
The pendulum will spin in a counter-clockwise direction and stop when finished.

geopAthic stress
According to Rolf Gordon of the Dulwich Health Society (UK), “Geopathic stress is naturalradiation, which rises up through the earth, and is distorted by weak electro-magnetic fieldscreated by subterranean running water, certain mineral concentrations, fault lines andunderground cavities.” If the force of this natural radiation (geopathic stress) is strong enoughto create cracks or stress fractures in concrete, imagine what it might do to your physical body.
This type of earth radiation may disturb and interfere with the normal interaction between thehormonal and nervous system, causing insomnia, depression and perhaps a host of other moreserious physical illnesses in both humans and animals.
Asking the question:Are there negative effects of geopathic stress on me (in my home / on my pet)? Yes or No
if yes: Please neutralize the negative effects of geopathic stress on me (in my home / on my pet)?
The pendulum will spin in a counter-clockwise direction and stop when finished.
wAter veins (A form of geopAthic stress)
Water veins and groundwater are not the same. Groundwater is still water that accumulatedabove a watertight stratum, while a water vein is usually water slowly leaking further alonggeological breaches, in internal cracks.
Unchecked water veins may be the cause of some physical health problems because the energyflow of the water can create geopathic stress. This is especially true in cases where the waterveins cross one another. As with geopathic stress, some negative effects of water veins caninclude insomnia, depression and headaches.
Asking the question:Are there ill effects of water veins on me (in my home / on my pet)? Yes or No
if yes: Please neutralize the ill-effects of water veins on me (in my home / on my pet)
The pendulum will spin in a counter-clockwise direction and stop when finished.
note: Although we addressed both topics together, when clearing yourself, your pet or yourproperty of non-beneficial effects, be sure to check for geopathic stress and water veinsseparately.

mAss consciousness
We believe that mass consciousness represents the collective mindset that groups of people mayshare, for example, fear during wartime, joy or anxiety during holidays.
Mass consciousness can be non-beneficial, or it can be a vehicle for positive thoughts andemotions through which we can share love, joy, hope and nurturing.
Non-beneficial effects of mass consciousness can manifest through grief and sadness, and maybe caused by something as simple as watching the news. A person suffering from the symptomsof mass consciousness may feel down and not exactly know why, or may feel as though they arecarrying the weight of the world on their shoulders.
note: Taking a break from reading, watching or listening to the news is beneficial in helpingto neutralize fear and anxiety due to mass consciousness.
Asking the question:Are there negative effects of mass consciousness on me (in my home)? Yes or No
if yes: Please neutralize the negative effects of mass consciousness on me (in my home).
The pendulum will spin in a counter-clockwise direction and stop when finished.
negAtive thought forms
We believe that negative thought forms are habitual criticisms or judgments you hold aboutyourself or somebody else. Since thought is energy, the energy of whatever you are thinking ispermeating the cells of your body and your living space, and influencing how you see andinteract with others.
Negative thought forms can lower your energy level, and might contribute to the beginning of adownward spiral in self-esteem. Thought forms can eventually become a manifested form. Forexample, if you constantly affirm a belief that “I am fat” or “I am stupid,” you may, over time, influence your physical body or your aptitude.
note: I have found negative thought forms in refrigerators. Think about how you relate to foodthat you don’t like to eat or is past its expiration date.

optional: Did I create these negative thought forms? Yes or No

intensified negAtive thought forms
Intensified negative thought forms may be sent consciously or unconsciously.
I liken it to mud slinging; when an intensified negative thought form is thrown at someone, andit sticks.
Intensified negative thought forms are usually sent due to a past or present negative lifeexperience between you and someone else, and can be passed down through ancestral lineage.
note: It is important not to judge the sender (self included) of intensified negative thoughtforms, because it perpetuates negativity.
Intensified negative thought forms might manifest as pain in the physical body, in the emotionsin terms of fear, anger, and other non-beneficial emotions, or possibly through some forms ofaddiction.
Asking the question:Are there intensified negative thought forms affecting me (my home / my pet)? Yes or No

note: Most of these protocols have two parts.
non-BeneficiAL energetic pAtterns And infLuences
Energy flows where attention goes.
Energetic patterns and influences are said to be patterns of energy that have been established ina place or on a person because of repetition. If you have an argument with someone in the samelocation over and over again, not only are you creating a negative energetic pattern in thatspace, you are leaving it for someone else to experience unknowingly.
Energetic patterns and influences can affect a person’s emotional, physical and energetic body, home and pets, and can linger in a location long after the event has taken place.

Please transform the neutralized energy to love, joy, gratitude and forgiveness.

non-BeneficiAL emotions
Emotions are part of what make us human, but when left unchecked can cause us to go out ofbalance. Our human experiences are governed by our ability to manage and balance our feelingsand the expression of our emotions.
We have all experienced the manifested emotions of joy and sorrow in some way throughout ourlives. Emotions can be both beneficial and non-beneficial.
Beneficial emotions can spread like water, when we are cheerful, our “cheer” infuses our bodies, our space and those around who are open to it. The same is true for non-beneficial emotionssuch as fear, anger, envy, greed and doubt.

inviting in BeneficiAL spirits
Just as it is possible to detect non-beneficial emotions, and measure them with dowsing, we canalso identify and measure positive spirits of emotion. We can do this for just about any positivespirits of emotion, i.e. love, gratitude, forgiveness and joy.
In dowsing, we measure the presence of these spirits of emotion in percentages.
In my practice, when working with a client who is experiencing some kind of energeticimbalance, these percentages are never found in the negative, but they can often be very low.Clients feel better almost immediately when these beneficial spirits of emotion are invited intotheir physical bodies, homes and offices.
My top 4 beneficial spirits of emotion are love, joy, gratitude and forgiveness. A reading of100%+ (positive) is ideal, however the beneficial spirit can only come in as much as we allow ata time. For some this is a gradual process. If, after inviting in the beneficial spirit, you get areading of 80%+ (positive) don’t be discouraged, that is a good start.

negAtive entities
Negative entities don’t have your best interest at heart, and can be destructive. According toBuddhist philosophy, they are lost and ignorant energies.
The presence of negative entities may manifest in a range of negative human behaviors, such astemporary mental illness, acting out, drug addiction and/or abusing and harming others. Ingeneral, they tend to represent destructive behavior in the people and places they affect.
Before dowsing negative entities it is important to ask your spirit guides if they are capable andwant to complete the protocol or exercise.
Asking the spirit guides:Spirit Guides are you capable of completing this request? Yes or No
Spirit Guides do you want to complete this request? Yes or No
if no to either question: walk away or call an experienced dowser to help.
if yes: Proceed to question:
Asking the question:Are there negative entities affecting me (my home / my office / my pet)? Yes or No

It is rare to encounter dense forces. I call these types of energies “dense forces” because theyare extreme negative entities that can manifest in a range of negative human behaviors, like the

Dense forces can also be found on property, and in dirty, stagnant, polluted water.

Respectfully ask the Medics to show up. They represent a special team of spiritual entitieswhose specialty is handling these dense forces.

poLtergeists
Poltergeists are harmless entities, but they can be annoying and may cause all sorts of oddbehaviors in your home or office, such as objects disappearing or electronics randomly turningon or off. If you find yourself having inexplicable problems with your electronics, it may be timeto check for poltergeists.
The Medics are needed for this procedure as well.

giving grAtitude
Thanking your dowsing system is crucial to your dowsing success. Taking the time to thank itfor the help it gives you will strengthen your connection to your dowsing system.
You will also want to thank your subject—even if it is yourself—and their spirit guides forallowing you to work with them.
As stated before, the words don’t matter as much as the intent you put into them.
“i give gratitude to god/source, my dowsing system, the subject (yourself or somebody else)and their guides, teachers and healers of the light.”
The pendulum will spin in a clockwise direction and stop when finished.
A cLeAr And centered stAte
The most important step in closing any dowsing session, aside from giving gratitude, is bringingyour self back to a clear and centered state.
Think of it like this: while you are dowsing your 7th chakra (located at the top of your head) isopen wide, like the aperture of a camera lens, to receive information.
When you have finished dowsing you want to close your 7th chakra back to your normaloperating capacity, allowing the aperture to adjust and close itself to just the right place ofbalance for your everyday health, well-being and receptivity.
request the following:Please bring me back to a grounded, clear and centered state.
The pendulum will spin in a clockwise direction and stop when finished.
concLusion
Dowsing has many different outlets and expressions: archaeological, surveying, holistic healing, spiritual rejuvenation, and so on. Once you have mastered the basics presented here, you cantake your dowsing in virtually any direction.
There are many experts who have their own ideas about dowsing and energy work. Throughyour dowsing experience, learn from each and find your own way.
Most importantly, have fun!

decision chips exercise
This is a fun exercise I learned from dowser and animal communicator Bill Northern.
Decision chips are useful and easily-constructed dowsing tools.
On three pieces of paper of equal size and shape, write the words: yes, no, and doesn’t matter.Three-by-five cards are great for this. Make the decision chips uniform, so that you can’tdistinguish between them when they are face down.
Dowse for a specific chip, such as the yes or no, until you can pick it up almost every time.
note: Dowsing for yes, no or doesn’t matter does not involve your thought process.
request the following:Show me the yes (no/doesn’t matter).
After getting this down, you can begin asking different types of questions that involve thethought process, and then dowse the answers with the decision chips (or cards).
Your dowsing communication and intuition will improve with practice.

Give gratitude to God/Source, your dowsing system, the subject and their guides, teachers andhealers of the Light.
Ask your dowsing system to please bring you back to a grounded, clear and centered state.
note: If you have followed all the steps listed to begin dowsing and you have followed all of theenergy clearing protocols, and the subject is still not at their appropriate level:
7 There may be another contributing factor that you are not aware of. Let things be for now.7 You didn’t clean your energy first.7 Your body needs something i.e. food, water or rest.7 You misread the answers to the permission questions.7 You are working on someone who is not in your presence and you don’t quite have the
horsepower to hold their vibration just yet.7 You are trying too hard and need to give yourself a break. Be patient.
Know that you have done the best that you can and try again tomorrow.
