Dedicated to the encouragement in acquiring, restoring, preserving and exhibiting the Model “A” Ford,

and to enjoy the fellowship of other Model “A” Ford owners

around the world.

The Spokesman is a publication of the

Highland Indiana Region of the Model “A” Restorer’s Club, Inc.,

founded in 1964, and is published monthly.

National dues are $45.00. Local dues are $10.00.

National Membership is required.

Business meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every

month at 7:00 p.m. at the McKinley Masonic Lodge in

Schererville, Indiana.

A Message from the Director

July is upon us. That means parades! I hope as many cars as possible will participate. It is a heck of a lot of fun! Thanks to Chuck Kolar for all his efforts in organizing and coordinating the parade info.

I hope everyone enjoyed the MARC Family Feud we had at the June meeting. The Seftons hosted our drive out to LaPorte. Of course, it involved a great dining experience at a local diner. Then, a leisurely stroll through the many antique shops.

After the parades, we have our club picnic and Hubley Derby race.

Unfortunately, I could not come up with the $350K to sponsor the Gary Air Show which will not be held this year.

Our biggest event will be the National MARC Meet in Gettysburg. Since the Meet will coincide with our monthly meeting, we will not have an August meeting unless someone wants to run it. I will be in Gettysburg. We will discuss this at the July meeting.

See you there!

EDITOR’S CORNER

It has been a beautiful summer and it’s hard to believe it’s already the Fourth of July!!

I was hoping to have been back in the driver’s seat of our ‘A, in time for pa-rade season. Unfortunately, my Driver’s Ed instructor bailed on my behind the wheel training!

In just a few short weeks it’s the Na-tional Meet in Gettysburg. I am jealous we are unable to attend - nothing like taking in a vacation with friends, in a beautiful setting, all the while learning some history too!

As we approach the Holiday I am re-minded of the many people in the HIR who served. There just aren’t enough words to express my gratitude so … thank you.

And I’m proud to be an American, Where at least I know I’m free,

And I won’t forget the men who died, Who gave that right to me.

Lee Greenwood
