The 10th Annual Bill Kasdorf Memorial Handicap Amateur Trapshooting Associa- tion (ATA) shoot was Sunday, April 14. This shoot featured 2 handi- cap events and 1 singles event with a high handi- cap winner. Pot-luck car- ry-in lunch included Sloppy Joes, Crock Pot Broccoli Cheese Soup, Hot Dogs, and CHEESECAKE! Yes folks, we certainly eat at these events. (Thanks Anne Davis for the cheesecake! It was great and put a smile on our faces on a rainy day.) Despite the rain we did have 15 determined trap shooters from Michigan and Ohio, shooting a total of 3,000 clay targets. Winners were Vicksburgs Owen Moberley in the first Handicap Event (89/100), Singles Champion John Peterson (picture at top left) shoot- ing a 97/100, and second Handicap Event winner was John Peterson over Michael Trep- anier by coin toss (85/100). Michael Trepanier (pictured third from left in picture at top right) took Runner Up in this second Handicap. John Peterson won the High Com- bined Handicap Trophy. Also pictured in group photo above (L-R) is J. Peterson, Matt Peterson, Trepanier, and Adam Baker (from Ohio). Please see related article on Bill Kasdorf, who this ATA shoot is dedicated to, on page 2. Thanks to all the scorers and loaders. We could not run these shoots without you. Next ATA trap shoot is August 25. Open Trap, Skeet, and 5-Stand is on Sundays starting at 9am, and on Tuesdays at 5pm. Hope to see you at the next shoot! Bill Kasdorf, Former Club Member & Trap Shooter

Since this year we held the 10th Annual

“Bill Kasdorf” Memorial Handicap ATA Shoot, I thought it would be nice to tell the Club members who Bill Kasdorf was, especially since we have so many new members. I knew Bill from my ear-ly days of ATA registered trapshooting. Besides at the Club, I would see him at Mason during MTA’s shoots, camping

with John Kasdorf and Chuck Kessler, two men that helped Larry and I get started in registered shooting. The Kasdorf Family have been holding “softball fundraising tournaments” and donating monies to the shotgun program. Last year’s proceeds went to purchase a nice spectator bench for the trap field. So I asked his daughter Ann to send me a little write-up for our monthly newsletter. Below is what Ann sent me. The Editor, Leslie York “My sisters and I are so happy with the new BENCH it's awesome! As a note, to-date our softball fundraisers have donated $1450 to the Club; he would be so hap-py that his second loved sport lives on to contribute to the Club! (Dad coached ASA Women's Fastpitch for 15 years starting when I was 11yrs old, the same age I started shooting!) I have him to thank for my Western Michigan University and MI ASA Hall of Fame honors and my seasons as a professional-ballplayer. I know he gave up shooting a lot to be at the ball field; thus the softball fundraiser. Dad always wanted to do more for the Club; to get more people involved. He start-ed the Club’s turkey shoots and also the splatter board so that people who were not shooting could participate and win a turkey. He did what was necessary at the Club so that the Club met the qualifications to throw ATA registered targets. I also witnessed him hanging lights up a pole, so I'd like to think he was the one responsible for the first of "shooting under the lights". Bill was a Life Member of the ATA and Michigan Trapshooting Association with his first registered targets recorded in 1955. Other accolades include:

A member of the Senior Vet All-State Team from 2000 through 2003.

Has Certificates of Achievement by ATA for attaining these milestones: 50,000 Singles targets 50,000 Handicap targets 25,000 Doubles targets

He was a winner of many State events; but most importantly he loved the friend-ships he made amongst his fellow shooters and Club members. Thank you, Ann”
