Your Greatest Business Advantage – Company Culture and Cohesive Teams Approved for 8 HRCI Business (Strategic) recertification credit hours and 8 SHRM PDCs 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Alice Dendinger, SPHR

If teams in your organization are dysfunctional, it is often a result of what is allowed or not allowed within your business culture. Teamwork is part of the culture and the single most untapped competitive business advantage. By successfully leading cohesive teams – you get collective results. As HR leaders, we have the power to transform beliefs about our culture and enhance profit and productivity by building more cohesion in teams throughout the business enterprise. Through exploration of different approaches to cultural design and a deep dive into Patrick Lencioni’s Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team – and associated tools for each component of the five behaviors, participants will gain knowledge and skill to create a greater competitive advantage for their business stakeholders.

Workplace Investigations – Law, Procedure & Best Practices Approved for 8 HRCI HR (General) recertification credit hours and 8 SHRM PDCs 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Dustin Paschal, JD and Paul Simon, JD

The workplace investigation is the first line of defense when it comes to any workplace claim. Many times, the investigation will determine whether or not an employee pursues a claim further. Thus, the investigation is the critical moment for every employer facing a claim and that important task almost exclusively falls to human resources. This workshop is designed to train human resource personnel on all aspects of a workplace investigation.

Through this one-day program, attendees will hear from two employment lawyers about every aspect of workplace investigations, from the pre-investigation issues and concerns all the way through completion and distribution of findings. Attendees also will learn through the unique experience of mock investigations throughout the day. Attendees will even have the opportunity to be a participant in the mock investigations.

PHR/SPHR Crash Course No HRCI recertification credit hours 8:00 AM – 5:15 PM | Danyelle Keenan, SPHR; Denise Kingland, SPHR; Judy Martin, SPHR; Rosalie Robinson, SPHR; Carol Rogers, SPHR; and Shanna Warren, SPHR

HRSWC’s “Crash Course” for the PHR and SPHR exam will help individuals prepare for this extensive exam by providing participants with overviews of the HRCI Body of Knowledge categories, study materials and resources, and exam-taking tips.

Developing Your Business Acumen Approved for 4 HRCI Business (Strategic) recertification credit hours and 4 SHRM PDCs 8:00 AM – 12:15 PM | Danyelle Keenan, SPHR

In order to be successful in today’s business environment, it is critical that human resource professionals are able to show that their contributions are more than task-based, operational functions. Participants will learn about the numerous opportunities to influence and impact the business outside of the day-to-day HR paperwork by outlining specific steps one can take to become a true strategic partner and develop a basic business acumen. This workshop will highlight the knowledge, behaviors and attitudes needed to truly be a strategic HR partner and teach participants to explore relationship connections, organizational change management and embracing risk.

Strategic HR Alignment Approved for 4 HRCI Business (Strategic) recertification credit hours and 4 SHRM PDCs 1:00 PM – 5:15 PM | Deborah Avrin, SPHR

Is your human resource plan aligned with your organization’s strategic plan? When your HR plan cascades from your organization’s goals and objectives, you will be viewed as a strategic partner with the ability to make a major contribution to the success of your company. This workshop begins with a hands-on activity to experience the process of strategic planning. As you experience strategic planning from your “seat at the table,” you will learn how to interpret information from external sources related to your industry’s business environment. The second part of this workshop focuses on how to align the human resources’ strategic plan with the organization’s strategic plan and how to execute the strategies you’ve planned.
