And remember when Allah will say (on the Day of

Resurrection):"O 'Iesa(Jesus), son of Maryam(Mary)!

Didyousayuntomen:'Worshipmeandmymotheras

twoAllahsbesidesAllah?'"Hewillsay:"GlorybetoYou!

ItwasnotformetosaywhatIhadnoright(tosay).

HadIsaidsuchathing,Youwouldsurelyhaveknownit.

YouknowwhatisinmyinnerselfthoughIdonotknow

whatisinYours,truly,You,onlyYou,aretheAll-Knower

ofallthatishiddenandunseen(5:116).

Universal Agreement

AllofthenationsareinagreementthatAllahaloneis

theOne who created this universe with its heavens

and earth, as well as everything that lies between

them and withinthem,such as theangels, jinn,and

mankind. Andthey acknowledge that He is the One

whogovernsand administersthis universe, and that

everything in existence is subjected to His Will and

Power,but yet inspiteof this, Hemaintainsit with

Gentleness,Mercy,andWisdom.

Hehas entrustedeverysaneadultwith worshippingHim and obeying His commands. And it is for this

reasonthatHecreatedthem,asHesays: AndIdidnot

cratemankindorthejinnexcepttoworshipMe.Idonot

seek any provision from them nor do I ask that they

shouldfeedMe.Verily,AllahistheAll-Knower,Ownerof

Power,andtheMostStrong(51:56-58).

The Messengers of Strong Will

AndHe sent them noblemessengers every time the

Devil and his helpers diverted them away from the

objectiveforwhichtheywerecreated,suchastowards

polytheism,theworshipofhim(i.e.theDevil),andtheabandonment ofAllahsStraightpath.At the headof

these noble messengers were those who possessed

strong will and determination, and they were:

Muhammad, Abraham(Ibrahim),Musa (Muses), Iesa

(Jesus) and Nuh, may Allahs peace and blessings be

upon them. Allah says: He has ordainedfor you the

samereligionthatHeordainedforNoahandwhichWe

revealed to you (O Muhammad) and ordained for

Abraham, Moses, and Jesus that you should establish

theReligionandmakenodivisionsinit.Intolerablefor

the polytheists is that which you call them to. Allah

choose for Himself whom He wills and guides unto

Himself those who turn to Him in repentance and

obedience(42:13).

Soallofthemessengersespeciallythosewhowere

mentionedabovetheirreligionwasone,anditwas

Islam; there being no religion besides it that they

ascribed to. Allah says: Verily the only Religion

acceptableinthesightofAllahisIslam(3:19).

Status of Jesus in Islam

After having made this introduction, our objective

hereistoclarifyandexplaintheconditionofthenoble

messengerofAllah,Jesus,sonofMary,andhisstatusinIslam.Thishonorableprophetholdsagreatposition

in Islam, which the Jews and Christians are either

unaware of or purposely neglect intheirdaily lives,

beliefs,andwritings.

Islamhassubstantiatedhisgreatrole,whichhasbeen

confirmed in the best, most complete and just of

mannersinseveralclearversesoftheQuraan.Every

pure and uncorrupt intellect should not accept

anythingexceptthatwhichIslamhasaffirmedforthis

Prophet, whilst rejecting everything that contradicts

that,suchaswhattheJewsaffirmfromslanderagainsthim and his mother, and what the Christian affirm

from exaggerating about him and his mother, and

what the Christians affirm from exaggerating about

him anddeifyinghimat timesby consideringhim to

bethesonofGodorGod(Himself)orpartofadivine

trinity,and attimesby debasing andmutilating him

(i.e.ontheCross),allofwhichindicatesmisguidance

anddeviationinthereligionandmind.

Allahhasrelatedtousthebestandmostmarvelousof

stories concerning Jesus and his mother, from the

beginning of their ordeal going through the variousstages of their lives, clarifying it in depth. So the

believers from among the followers of Muhammad

believedin allofthisand gave Jesusandhismother

thestatustheydeservedandwelcomedthemwiththe

highest level of honor. In the same manner, they

welcomed allof the other prophets andmessengers

and believed in them. In fact, Islam has established

believinginthemasbeingoneofthemajorpillarsof

faith.Andfurthermore,itholdsthatwhoeverbelittles

any of the prophets in any manner, has committed

disbeliefandleavesfromthefoldofIslam.

Jesus & His Mother in the Quraan

Allahrelatesin theQuraan inSurahMaryam(19:16-

38):{AndmentionintheBook(theQuraan)thestoryof

Maryam, when she withdrew in seclusion from her

family to a place facing east. She placed a screen (to

screenherself)fromthem;thenWesenttoherOurRuh

(angelGabriel),andheappearedbeforeherintheform

ofamaninallrespects.Shesaid:"Verily,Iseekrefuge

withtheMostGracious(Allah)fromyou,ifyoudofear

Allah." The angel said: "I am only a messenger fromyour Lord, to announce to you the gift of a righteous

son."Shesaid:"HowcanIhaveason,whennomanhas

touchedme,noramIunchaste?"Hesaid:"So(itwillbe),

your Lord said: 'That is easy for Me (Allah). And We

wishto appointhimasasigntomankindandamercy

from Us (Allah), and it is a matter already decreed by

Allah.'

Sosheconceivedhim,andshewithdrewwithhimtoa

far place (i.e. Bethlehem valley about 4-6 miles from

Jerusalem). And thepain sof childbirth drove herto t he

trunkof adatepalm.Shesaid:"WouldthatIhaddiedbeforethis,and hadbeenforgotten andout ofsight!"

Then(thebabeJesusorGabriel)criedtoherfrombelow

her,saying:"Grievenot:yourLordhasprovidedawater

stream under you. "And shake the trunk of the date

palm towards you, it will let fall fresh ripe dates upon

you." "So eat and drink and be glad. And if you see any

human being, say: 'Verily,I have voweda fast tothe

MostGracioussoIshallnotspeaktoanyhumanbeing

this day."' Then she brought him (the baby) to her

people,carrying him. Theysaid: "OMaryam! Indeedyou

havebroughta thinga mightything."O sister(i.e.the

like)ofHarun!Yourfatherwasnotamanwhousedto

commit adultery, nor your mother was an unchaste

woman."

Thenshepointedtohim.Theysaid:"Howcanwetalkto

onewhoisachildinthecradle?"He(Jesus)said:"Verily,

IamaslaveofAllah,HehasgivenmetheScriptureand

made me a Prophet;" "And He has made me blessed

wheresoever I be,andhas enjoined onme prayer and

obligatorycharity,aslongasIlive.""Anddutifultomy

mother,andmademenotarrogant,unblest."Andpeace

beuponmethedayIwasborn,andthedayIdie,and

the day I shall beraised alive!" Such is Jesus, son of

Maryam.It isa statement of truthabout whichthey

doubt (ordispute). Itbefitsnot (the Majestyof) Allah

thatHeshouldbegetason(thisreferstotheslanderof

ChristiansagainstAllah,bysayingthatJesusistheson

ofAllah).GlorifiedandExaltedisHeaboveallthatthey

associate with Him. When Hedecreesa thing,He only

saystoit:"Be!"anditis.(Jesus)said:"Andverily,Allah

ismyLordandyourLord.SoworshipHimAlone.Thatis

aStraightPath.(Allah'sreligionofIslamicMonotheism

whichHedidordainforallofHisProphets)."

Then thesects differed(i.e.the ChristiansaboutJesus)

sowoetothedisbelievers(thosewhogavefalsewitness

bysayingthatJesusisthesonofAllah)fromtheMeeting

ofa greatDay(i.e.theDayofResurrection,when they

willbethrownintheblazingFire).Howclearlywillthey

(polytheistsanddisbelieversintheOnenessofAllah)see

andhear,theDaywhentheywillappearbeforeUs!But

the polytheists and wrong doers today are in plain

error.}

Falsehood of Trinity

Verily,thelikenessofJesusbeforeAllahisthelikenessofAdam.He createdhim from dust, then (He) said to

him:"Be!"andhewas(3:59).

OpeopleoftheScripture(JewsandChristians)!Donot

exceedthelimitsinyourreligion,norsayofAllahaught

butthetruth.TheMessiahJesus,sonofMaryam,wasno

morethanaMessengerofAllahandHisWord,("Be!"-

andhewas)whichHebestowedonMaryamandaspirit

(Ruh) created by Him; so believe in Allah and His

Messengers.Saynot:"Three(trinity)!"Cease!Itisbetter

for you. For Allah is the only One God, Glory be to Him.

FarExaltedisHeabovehavingason.ToHimbelongsallthatisintheheavensandallthatisintheearth.And

AllahisAll-Suf ficientasa Disposerof affairs(4:171).

Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allah is the

thirdof the three (in a trinity)." But there isno god

(nonewhohastherighttobeworshipped)butOneGod.

And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a

painfultorm entwillbef allthedisb elieversamong them

(5:73).

Jesus Did Not Die & Will Return

Andthey (disbelievers)plotted to killJesus, and Allah

planned too. And Allah is the Best of those who plan.

And remember when Allah said: "O Jesus! I will make

you sleep and raise you to Myself and clear you of the

forged statement that Jesus is Allah's son of those who

disbelieve, and I wil l make those who follow you

(monotheists,whoworshipnonebutAllah)superiorto

those who disbelieve in the Oneness of Allah, or

disbelieveinsomeofHisMessengers,(e.g.Muhammad),

Jesus, Moses, or in His Holy Books, (e.g. the Torah, the

Gospel, theQuraan)till theDay ofResurrection. Then

youwillreturn toMeand Iwilljudg ebetweenyou inthe

mattersinwhichyouusedtodispute"(3:54-55).

AbuHurairah radiAllahuanhunarrated,Messengerof

Allah sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, By Him in

WhoseHandmysoulis,surelyJesus,thesonofMaryam

will shortly descend amongst you (Muslims), and will

judge mankind justly bythe lawofthe Quraan asa just

ruler;hewillbreaktheCrossandkillthepigsandthere

willbenoJizyah(i.e.taxationtakenfromnon-Muslims).

Moneywillbeinabundancesothatnobodywillaccept

it,and a single prostration to Allah in prayer will be

betterthanthewholeworldandwhateverisinit."

AbuHurairahadded:"Ifyouwish,youcanrecite(this

VerseoftheQuraan):"Andthereisnoneofthepeopleof

theScripture(JewsandChristians)butmustbelievein

him(Jesus)asaMessengerofAllahandahumanbeing

beforehis(JesusoraJew'soraChristian's)death,and

ontheDayofResurrection,he(Jesus)willbeawitness

againstthem"(SahihAl-Bukhari).
