On average, every summer from 1994-2012, recent college grads increased the labor supply by around 17 percent.

Between 2000-2012, there was a summer unemployment surge of around 0.8 to 1.2 percentage points among recent college grads.

1. Find your institution’s career counseling or career services office and seek career building skills.

2. Share with your network that you’re looking for work.

3. Rely on previous internship connections.

4. Compile a list of competencies you have that are relevant to a particular job (see www.onetonline.org).
