A weekly session with a model, and tuition provided every second week. Beginners welcome. Bring own easel and materials.

Social Table Tennis at the Basket Range Hall 10am - 12pm, gold coin donation. For all ages and abilities, get a few tips & have some fun.

NEW Never Too Late Too Dance - 9.30am-10.30am, $5. An over 65s dance class exploring a variety of dance types including contemporary, rock ‘n’ roll, jazz and ballroom. People with all levels of experience are welcome. Bring a friend or meet new friends. Morning tea provided after class.

NEW Stories, Rhymes and Craft - 9.30am-10.15am, free. A nurturing session of stories, actions rhymes and craft activities for babies, toddlers and pre-kindy aged children.

Painting Group - 9:30am-1pm, 1st & 3rd Mon of the month, gold coin donation. Beginners welcome. Please bring own materials.

Knit ‘n’ Stitch - 12 noon-3pm, 1st Mon of the month, gold coin donation. Bring along your latest work in progress and share ideas with a friendly group of like minded people.

Fun & Games - 10am-2pm, 2nd & 4th Mon of the month, $4. Social scrabble, cards and board games—a great way to meet friends!

A fantastic Book Swap, tea and coffee, public computers, Wi-Fi and a vine covered patio

Smashing Ladies Mosaics - 10am - 2pm, (Basket Range Cricket clubrooms, 222 Range Rd), 4th Fri of the month, $6. The group works on basic mosaics but feel free to bring along another craft such as crochet or knitting. Contact Alison 0409287218.

Virtual reality at The Summit! Come & experience this emerging and highly interactive technology. Would you like to travel the world without jumping on a plane, create a 3D painting, or explore the solar system. Bookings essential.

Book Club - 1-3pm, 4th Wed of the month, gold coin. Share your love of reading with this friendly, vibrant group. Book list is prepared from Library Catalogue.

Yoga with Flo Benattar - Hatha - 6:30-8pm, $10. Beginners to intermediate. Includes relaxation and meditation.

Let’s Do Bus Trips (for CHSP eligible over 65s) $5, plus lunch and tour cost if applicable , 2nd Wed of the month. A range of exciting day trips, visiting a different destination every month.

Uraidla Chat ‘n Do (over 65s) - monthly (Summertown Uniting Church), $10. Craft, exercise, speakers, entertainment and friendship, morning tea and lunch provided.

For those interested in learning Japanese or practicing their current language skills, this session is a wonderful opportunity to practice conversational Japanese.

NEW After School Lego & Board Games Club - 3:30 to 4:30pm, free. Drop in with your children after school and enjoy building Lego or playing a board game together. Enjoy a coffee and chat with friends from your local school.

THE SUMMIT Term one 2020 workshops, short courses, events

Virtual Reality –Come and Try Virtual reality is coming to The Summit! Come experience this emerging and highly interactive technology. Would you like to travel the world without jumping on a plane, create a 3D painting, or explore the solar system? Sessions are limited to 25 minutes per person and some conditions apply.

General computer one on one help If you have basic computer questions these sessions could be the answer. They are available for smartphone, laptop and tablet users (but not MacBook users, sorry)

Porcelain Jewellery Making* Welcome back to our very talented facilitator Rebecca Prince who will guide you through making and decorating porcelain jewellery. This will be a two part workshop, so bring a friend and enjoy a Friday evening of chatting, creativity and fun!

Macramé - Table Runner* Mary from Knot Modern will be teaching the fun and therapeutic craft of macramé with a table runner project to make during the session and take home. Be quick, only limited tickets available!

The Red Shed - Sunday Sessions Come along to our new Sunday morning session at The Red Shed at Uraidla on the last Sunday of each month. All welcome, and no special skills required. Work on your own project, repair broken items, get involved in a community project whilst meeting new people.

Printmaking Learn Lino printmaking techniques and extend your practice with artist Julia Wakefield. All materials are supplied. Beginners welcome.

Essential Health with Essential Oils Join Skye, from Skye’s Oil Life to find out how to use essential oils in your everyday life. Participants will learn how to make, and take home a natural bug repellent, room spray and beautiful non-toxic perfumes.

Writers’ Week Live Streaming During Writers’ Week some of the selected sessions will be live streamed and available for watching at The Summit. Bring some friends along, have a coffee and get immersed in Writers’ Week. Session details and times to be confirmed closer to the event.

Karra Watta Community Lunches* A free community lunch available to anyone in the community who may be feeling a little isolated, is new to the area or would like to reconnect with old friends and make new connections by coming together to enjoy a hearty meal.

Hills Harmony Picnic* Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity - a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. Join us and local community groups in Federation Park, Gumeracha on Saturday 21 March, 11am-2pm to enjoy a memorable day, with free food and entertainment provided.

Scooter Coaching @ the Gumeracha Skate Park* Join Roll all Day crew for a small group coaching session focussing on skill development, skate park etiquette and goal setting, while having lots of fun! Suitable for ages 5-15 years. Helmets must be worn and scooters need to be in safe working order.

Introduction to Beekeeping* Would you like to have bees in your garden or are you thinking of become a beekeeper? If you’re thinking about getting a beehive for your garden or are just interested in saving the bees and what’s involved with keeping bees, then this Beekeeping for Beginners session is for you. The session is designed for absolute beginners so, no prerequisite knowledge is required. Topics will include: the honey bee life cycle, the role of the drone bee, the role of the queen bee, the role of the worker bee, locating your beehive, feeding bees, the beehive inspection and much more. Supper included.

Hand-built Clay Homewares (3 session series)* Come and learn the art of hand building clay objects and utensils. This relaxing, tactile and fun series of three workshops will focus on a variety of hand building techniques and clay decoration. Learn how to make unique homewares: mugs, spoons, saucers, bowls, vases and candle holders. Materials and firing included.

Introduction to Mindfulness (4 session series)* Classes provide support for participants to engage with, learn and integrate meditation and mindfulness into their everyday life to reduce stress, increase energy and enhance overall wellbeing. The classes support both beginner and experienced meditators. The mindfulness workshop will be facilitated by Tim, an Australian Centre of Holistic Studies (ACHS) qualified and experienced teacher of meditation and mindfulness.

Build Your Own Bee Hotel* Join volunteers from the Gumeracha Green Shed to build your very own bee hotel. Learn some trade secrets and get the satisfaction of building something memorable yourself. Suitable for adults and children aged 8+. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian for assistance during the workshop. All materials supplied, please wear closed toe shoes and have hair tied back.

Neighbour Day Community Shed BBQ Join the Gumeracha Green Shed to celebrate Neighbour Day with a community BBQ lunch – feel free to bring a neighbour or friend along.

Amish Rug Weaving* Using a method also know as toothbrush weaving, come and learn the technique to make customised floor rugs (or stash baskets) from repurposed quilt covers, sheets and fabric scraps. Once you have completed this workshop you’ll be able to continue with your project at home and experiment with colours and textures. All materials are provided (including your own weaving needle to take home) and all steps are covered giving you the confidence to tackle you own pieces. We recommend bringing along your own repurposed fabric, quilt covers or sheets if you’d like a certain colour scheme. Morning tea included.

Would you like to volunteer at an Adelaide Hills Council Community Centre?

Opportunities include the op shop (Torrens Valley), gardening, administration and

customer service, running a community program or class including virtual reality,

community transport drivers, community shed. If you are interested, we would love

Neighbour Day March 2020

Neighbour Day is Australia’s annual celebration of community, encouraging people to connect with those who live in their neighbourhood.

To celebrate this, from March 23 – 27, both community centres are offering for attendees to bring a friend or neighbour along to one of our regular programs (Easy Movez, Knit ‘n’ Stitch, Community Sheds etc.) for free. Please note this excludes activities not run by the Community Centres (Kindergym, Junior Gym, Gymnastics, Dru Yoga).

During this week, the Gumeracha Green Shed will also host a community BBQ lunch from 12:00 noon on Tuesday 24 March.
