• The outer layer of sun’s atmosphere. Streams out to become solar wind

• Sunspots – cool spots that appear dark on the sun’s surface

• Prominences – huge reddish loop of gas that protrudes from the sun’s surface

• Solar Flare – eruption of gas from the sun’s surface when the loops in sunspot regions suddenly connect
