Sun Facts

• Diameter: 1,392,000 km mass: 1.989e30 kg Temperature: 5800 K (surface) 15,600,000 K (core)

• The sun is, at the present, about 70% hydrogen and 28% helium.the parts of the sun are inner core, radioactive zone, convection zone, subsurface flows, photosphere, and the chromospheres.

Continued…

• The sun formed 4.6 billion years ago from a vast cloud of gas.

• You could also fit 1.3 million planets the size of the earth into the sun.

• The reason why we don’t go to the sun is because we burn up because the sun’s temperature is to hot (5,800)F

Size Matters

• It luminous ball of gas more than 100 times bigger than the Earth. Although seemingly inactive from the naked eye view, telescopic observations reveal a bevy of violent activity. The sun’s core is equally violent with a furnace of thermonuclear fire converting hydrogen into helium to the tune of an energy production equivalent to the detonation of 100 nukes.

The sun fact.

• Light from the sun takes 8 minutes to get to earth.

• Te sun makes up 99.86% of the solar system

Page 6: The Sun

Amount of times

• The sun is 150 million km. away from the earth. A example is like going from Texarkana,TX to California, A 58,255

• The sun has to rotate 26 times to make one day. That means that every 56 minutes equals one rotation.
