SJ Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge~WW 2011, Nancy Scelso, Henry Katkow & Janet Bossi...Honoring Scotty Cooper. Their team was “Scotty’s Scallywags” & were blessed to raise $890. in donations that went towards the grand total of $91,885. for the Wildwood plunge!!! A Great Cause! We here at The Sun, proudly report lo- cal hero Matt Szczur and the Chicago Cubs have signed a $1.5 million con- tract, preventing Villanova’s wide re- ceiver from pursuing an NFL career (Major League Football scouters re- main interested in Matt should he change his mind). The 5-foot-11, 205- pound outfielder originally signed to the Cubs in June 2010, with the agree- ment of him finishing out his studies at Villanova University this year. Matt, having played three different minor league teams in the Cubs system, started his professional career with a 21-game hitting streak. The right- handed batter and center fielder by trade is considered remarkably fast. He hit .347 in 25 minor league games. Ac- cording to an MLB source, Matt, who was living in Arizona during Spring Training, will start the 2011 season in Season A Peoria.
