The ambush for on the Russians from the

British turned around... the Russians

ended up destroying the British Cavalry.

The cavalry originally had 673 men;

before the attack. The hole battle as

a disaster and! if it had not been for

the charge of the "rench cavalry! the

British ould have been massacred.

The battle ended ith the Russians

keeping their guns and their position

despite not breaking through the British

lines. #f the 673 men ho ent into

battle $ only %&' survived( )*7 men

ere murdered and some ounded and the

loss of *7' horses. The fearless

soldiers remained in Russians hands

after the battle.

Cardigan led -the charge of the light

brigade/ a group of British cavalry

men $ straight into the middle of a

lethal ambush...

0uring the battle of Balaclava during

the Crimean ar! ,ord Cardigan aaited

their command for their ne1t move. The

command came. 2t read -,ord Raglan

ishes the cavalry to advance rapidly to

the front $ follo the enemy and try to

prevent the enemy carrying aay the

guns. Troop 4orse 5rtillery may

accompany. "rench cavalry is on your

left. R 5irey 2mmediate. The command

as a death trap. ome of the brigade

may have knon this of course! but they

ould be shot if they ere to disobey or

uestion orders.

The poem ritten by 5lfred ,ord Tennyson

clearly states ho lethal this charge

as; the poem says -Cannon to the

right of them! Cannon to the left of

them! Cannon in front of them! 8olleyed

and thundered; stormed at ith shot and

shell! then states -Boldly they rode

and ell! 2nto the 9as of death! 2nto

the mouth of hell!.
