SUMMARIZING PHOTOSYNTHESIS~

PHOTOSYNTHESIS IS WHEN LIVING ORGANISMS TAKE IN THE SUN’S ENERGY, CONVERT IT TO THEIR CHEMICAL ENERGY, AND USE IT TO LIVE.

The Sun

The sun is the closest star to Earth.

Not all the light from the sun makes it to the Earth. The little light that makes it to the Earth is enough for the plants to under go photosynthesis.

The sun is the source of energy that powers photosynthesis. The energy the sun creates is used to power chemical reactions that combine water and carbon dioxide to make the plants food.

Our sun is the ultimate source of energy in our galaxy.

Chemical reaction

A chemical reaction is is a process that leads to the transformation of one set of chemical substances to another.

So, a chemical change is kind of like a physical change. When a physical change occurs, this means that your only changing the appearance. But when a chemical change occurs your like changing the chemical aspects of it.

Catalyst

• A catalyst is a substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing a permanent chemical change.

The catalyst just increases the rate of a chemical reaction without changing any permanent chemical changes.

Photosynthesis Process

Step 1:Carbon Dioxide enters the stomata in the leaves.(Stoma is the pores of the outer layer of the cell.) The blue lines represent Carbon Dioxide.

Step 2: The roots of the plants absorbs water.

Step 3: Sunlight is absorbed by chlorophyll and a chemical reaction takes place. Glucose is made.

Step 5: Oxygen exits the leaves.

Products of photosynthesis

photosynthesis is the name given to the set of chemical reactions performed by plants to convert energy from the sun into chemical energy in the form of sugar. Specifically, plants use energy from sunlight to react carbon dioxide and water to produce sugar (glucose) and oxygen. Many reactions occur, but the overall chemical reaction is: 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + light → C6H12O6 + 6 O2

The process of creating glucose

The process of creating glucose must repeat

itself 6 times to make one single molecule of glucose.

glucose Glucose is a simple sugar that is an important

energy source in living organisms and is a component of many carbohydrates.
