MAY 7, 2017 - FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER DAILY LITURGY

for the Week of May 7, 2017

What is not to like about waking up in the morning, hearing the birds chirping their message to “Rise and Shine for it is a Spring Day in the Neighborhood”. Touched by a radiant sun, we look ahead at a beautiful day which happily includes the dramatic shedding of the winter coat, flowers and trees spreading their awesome colors all around, outdoor eating, delicious fresh fruits and vegetables on our plates, flip-flops and t-shirts, little league without the chill, and savoring the longer days in the light! It is May and people all around are smiling at “our common home” and the world is smiling back. For trivia lovers, the United Kingdom officially designates May as National Smile Month! As the month of May merrily moves along, the promise of new life and new hope envelop us daily. Life is also alive and well in our Catholic church as we traditionally include in the 50 days of Easter, many rich and lasting moments in our faith celebrations. The festival of sacraments is celebrated in May including, First Communion, Confirmation, May Crowning, Mother’s Day, Baptism and Ordination, all moments of joy and gladness. What a blessing of Divine light and love is present at each of these community celebrations. Cheers to our young people whose sincerity and excitement help us to remember the church of our childhood where we received the Body of Christ and answered for the first time, “Amen”. And here we are, many AMENS later, gathered around the sacred table, asking the God of New Life to unite us all as we embrace and give thanks for the gifts of the spring season that energize our spirits to grow stronger in our love of God and all humanity.

WEEK OF MAY 7, 2017

Dear Church of Saint Ann,

Blessings to you as we celebrate this Easter Season of new life. Thank you for your generous donation of $1,200. Your gift will surely provide reason for hope for the most vulnerable people in the countries where we serve. We are grateful for your joining hands with us to reach out to them.

Pope Francis says that responding to needy and excluded people “is at the heart of the Gospel” (Ecuador, 2015). As you partner with us in ministry through your faithful support, we are able together to make such a response, providing centers for healing of bodies and spirits in a number of places around the world, Without you this could not happen. Thank you.

Every Friday be assured that you, our dedicated benefac-tors, are remembered with gratitude in the prayers of Maryknoll Sisters wherever we are. You continue to help make hope blossom and mission possible and we never forget that.

Gratefully yours in Christ, Sr. Rosalie Lacorte, MM Maryknoll Sisters These monies were made available through the Church of Saint Ann’s Tithing Committee.

GIFT SHOP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR MORRIS HALL Looking for a volunteer opportunity where you can meet new friends and make a difference? Consider becoming a gift shop volunteer at Morris Hall’s Saints’ Corner Boutique. Located on Route 206 in the heart of Lawrenceville, Morris Hall is home to nearly 200 residents residing in St. Mary’s Assisted Living and St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Center. Staffed by volunteers, the shop is open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, and is an integral part of the social fabric of the facility. All proceeds from the shop benefit the residents of Morris Hall.

Shifts generally last two hours, but hours are flexible. Some volunteers work weekly, some monthly, and others fill in when regular volunteers are unavailable. Training will be provided. If you are interested in finding out more about helping at the shop, please contact Margie Geiger, Gift Shop Manager, at (201) 213-6736.
