MIAMI MIRROR – TRUE REFLECTIONS THE SUNPOST WEEKLY PROPHECY 22 October 2013 By David Arthur Walters MIAMI MIRROR MIAMI BEACH—Will the so‐called reform candidates win the current election cycle for mayor and for three out of six commission seats? That is big question nowadays in the lovely scandal‐ridden City of Miami Beach. Reformers will win half the positions, at least according to the relative positioning of the candidates on a graphic illustration of who is running for what that appeared in the October 10 edition of the local, free sidewalk rag, the SunPost Weekly. That illustration was not intended as an editorial endorsement, but endorsements therein were unwittingly made and the winners prophesied. It would be best to vote against any candidate the editor might endorse if it were not for the fact that her choices are often made at random regardless of the merits. For example, just before and after she named a high official as SunPost Best City Official 2013, she said she knew little or nothing about him. He happened to be the worst city official left in terms of entrenchment after the involuntary retirement of the city manager in the wake of several F.B.I. arrests. On the other hand, the SunPost has been useful in providing information about the candidates, including an edition devoted to ethnic and other savored smears. The qualifications of the candidates and the issues will not determine the outcome of the election. But who knows how people will vote? The graphic illustration may be telling of the unconscious knowledge of the illustrator in the absence of reporting on any polls taken. Can anything be more oxymoronic and absurd than “unconscious knowledge?” But do not think that the Three Fates, who will draw, spin, and cut the thread of the event do not exist because you cannot see them in the moonlight. Reform candidate Phillip Levine appears above Michael Góngora, who is presently a commissioner, by a full head, so he is destined to win. Steve Berke and Raphael Herman are well below the leaders in a virtual tie for third place. Reform candidate Sherry Kaplan Roberts appears a head above Mickey Steinberg and Mohammed Islam, and they above Elsa Erquiza, for the Group 1 Commission seat. It may not matter that an attack dog for the Forces of Darkness devised and circulated a Florida Elections Commission “Confidential Complaint Form” accusing Roberts of perjury in regards to statements made as to her permanent place of residence.
