President’s Message

Welcome!

Can you believe it is almost springtime? I know we had the holiday party earlier this year, but it now seems like light years ago!

Please look through this newsletter, our website and your email blasts (usually sent to your inbox every Tuesday) for the most current section information. Just a couple of weeks ago I had a member call about his newsletter that he didn’t feel he was receiving. After chatting a few minutes, he discovered he wasn’t opening his email blasts and therefore he was missing his newsletter downloads. There will be a clickable link within the email blast for new newsletter downloads or you can go to the website for current or past newsletters. Be careful hitting your color print button because our newsletter is rich with photos many taken at club events by Ron Seifert, Vice President. I can almost watch the color ink disappear onto the paper!

The North Texas Section of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America (MBCA) is dedicated to enhancing the ownership experience of the finest automobiles in the world. We engage in a variety of activities throughout the year that hopefully appeal to a broad section of our membership.

Currently our membership totals almost 1000 members who are committed to furthering their experience and enjoyment of their cars. Whether you’re a gear head, performance driver, rally enthusiast, cultural maven or social mingler, the MBCA North Texas Section had an upcoming event for you. Check out the Events section to see what’s coming up during the year, and for details on events that are just over the horizon.

As always, we need volunteers to organize and lead future events. In particular the Red River Concours d’Elegance car show is a South Central regional venture led by the Central Oklahoma and North Texas MBCA sections to be held May 17-19, 2019 near Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. You are encouraged to sign up and participate by entering your car, attending the banquet party and/or volunteering to help organize other participants. We need a lot of help and what better way to meet more MBCA members? There will even be a judges’ school scheduled for Friday night for those members wanting to be qualified to assist with the Saturday judging. Be there or be square.

By the time you read this you will have either enjoyed or missed the North Texas Tulips & Sweetie Pie drive, but you still have time to register for the Texas Horse Country Tour scheduled for April 13th. Many events fill fast and nearly all have limited enrollment. Personally, I continue to work on a schedule for a club event at the Texas State Railroad running between Rusk and Palestine. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Many of you knew Paula Agnew and know her husband Jay and daughter Heather. Paula passed away a few weeks ago and I’m proud to say her memorial was well attended with over 20 MBCA/NTX members and spouses. She will be dearly missed.

Very sincerely,Craig HalversonPresident, North Texas Section

DIY Tech SessionEvent Reports

March/April 2018

The North Texas Section conducted our 1st DIY Technical Session of 2019 at Park

Place Motorcars on Saturday, February 02, 2019.

There were 18 registered Members for the January Session, several Section Leadership guests, the Regional Director, the MBCA National President and two drop-in guests. Our members look forward to our Park Place opportunity to put our cars on Lifts with access to original Mercedes parts at preferred Customer pricing.

We and Park Place provided coffee, juice, fruit and sweet rolls for our members and the DIY Host Staff. We were met by the service managers, Reuben and Mike and 10 Techs welcoming us into their Workspace for a morning session that they have provided for 20+ years. A great NTX MBCA membership benefit. Our relationship with our dealers and independent shop hosts is vital for our technical sessions for our members, relationships that we must maintain for future years.

Batteries, fluid flushes, motor mounts, Brake Pads, Rotors, and Diagnostics work was performed. After the session, a group of 8 indulged in Burgers and a Brew at Maple and Motor.

February Membership MeetingEvent Report

For our monthly membership meeting, 22 folks turned out on a rainy February day for a great

lunch at the Shogun Japanese Restaurant. It was a great lunch watching the chefs prepare our food in the Japanese style and the entertainment they provided. Craig Halverson and Ron Seifert gave an overview of the events scheduled for the year and we welcomed three newcomers and visitors to our group.

North Texas Charity Donations - 2018The NTX Section each year raises money for two charitable organizations in the Dallas Area. The Samaritan Inn and the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for

Children. The donations are raised throughout the year with a 50/50 Raffle held at each event and through our auction each year at our Christmas Party. Our dealership partners contribute items each year for our Christmas Party Auction which is an important partnership in this charity function for our section. These are two organizations that serve folks in need in our community.
