FORGIVENESS
Lent is a season of forgiveness. While Jesus was on the cross He said,
“Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”
A wealthy English merchant who lived on the European connent was
sasfied with nothing but the best. This atude extended even as far as the cars
he owned. His pride and joy was a Rolls-Royce coupe that he had owned for
years and that had given great service all that me. One day, while driving
down a bumpy road, his car hit a deep pothole, resulng in a broken rear axle.
The owner had the car shipped back to the Rolls plant in England and was
surprised by the quick repair that was performed. He received no bill for the
work and, knowing his warranty had run out, he had expected one. He waited
for months and sll no bill came. So he finally communicated with the company
about the bill for his car repairs. Again the response from the factory was
immediate. The reply said, “We have thoroughly search our files and find no
record of a Rolls-Royce axle ever breaking.”
This is a case where the integrity and excellence of that company would
not permit a flaw in workmanship or materials to be made known. The
excellence of Christ does not permit our flaws to be made known to the Father.
He accomplishes our forgiveness. (ILLUSTRATIONS FOR BIBLICAL PREACHING,

The forgiveness shown through Christ is amazing. This is what salva5on
and the Chris5an faith are all about. May we be forgiving like our Savior!

A Boatload of Believers
Don’t worry about all the rain because the FUMC Youth now Noah guy with a big
boat! We had a wonderful Winter Retreat to Kentucky. As our weather has proven this season,
we drove there in a blizzard and drove home using the air condi5oner. We lodged in Cliffview
Retreat allowing much needed fellowship and some incredible ‘cabin worship’. Saturday we
journeyed to the Crea5on Museum and then to the Ark Encounter. There was so much to see,
learn, and discuss together. These unique venues merge Crea5on and Biblical belief with scien5fic
data to provide a non-mainstream look at the Earth’s 5meline, specifically the events immediately
preceding and following the great flood. Some of the ideas are a bit difficult to discern even for
those of us believing every word of the Bible as absolute truth. God is God and Jesus is Jesus is
enough for me. God does not need to explain HIS concept of 5me; God can create fossils any way
HE pleases, and adapt animals according to HIS will. God sent Jesus to be our eternal Ark to one
day float away from this sin-filled soil and live forever with HIM in heaven. That is that - all
scien5sts and biblical scholars alike can just keep on wri5ng theories...for me and my boatload of
believers - It Is Finished!
Our focus was not on how we would convince someone to believe in Crea5on or to
explain where dinosaurs are in the Bible. Our focus was how to tell someone why I/you believe
the Bible, God’s love, faith, peace, hope, and Jesus to be true. In our group worship 5me, the
students shared beau5fully their belief, tes5mony, and passion for why they are a follower of
Jesus Christ. We collec5vely agree with this list of take-aways from the Ark Encounter:
1. Don’t miss the boat.
2. Remember that we are all in the same
boat.
3. Plan ahead! It wasn’t even raining when
Noah built the Ark.
4. Stay fit and ready. Even when you are
really old, God s5ll may ask you to do
something really big.
5. Don’t listen to cri5cs; just get on with the
job that God needs done.
6. Build your future on high ground.
7. For safety’s sake - travel in pairs.
8. Speed isn’t always important...the snails
reached land the same 5me as the
cheetahs.
9. When you’re stressed - float a while.
10. Remember the Ark was built by amateurs
while the Titanic by professionals -
God gives ability to the available.
11. No maPer the storm, when you are with
God, there is always a rainbow wai5ng.
Come on aboard all you believers -
let’s take this journey together and forever!
Blessings, Hardin

A Mercy Minute
Our desire to be in control of everyone and
everything only impedes receiving our Christ-given
giR of freedom. In reality, the only thing we can
control is our personal decision to trust Jesus or go
it alone. Pastor Bre5 Hogland from Faith Covenant
Church of God will be sharing this week at Mercy
Place a message on confession, acceptance, and
surrender. Surrender control to Christ and know
true freedom...true serenity...and truly Celebrate
Recovery!
Blessings, Hardin
