Committee Updates, News, & Notices: TaxCommittee:ThefocusoftheTaxCommitteeistocommunicatethetaxissuesandupdatestoRidgewoodresidents.TherehavebeenseveralmeetingsoftheTaxCommitteetodate.Theconcentrationofthecommitteehasbeentoresearch,verify,andcommunicatetaxinformationtoit’s’residents. InlastmonthsnewsletterImentionedthatIwastryingtogetthosewhoowedbacktaxesalongerextensionthanthelawcurrentlyallows(January 31, 2008). I have been in contact with the offices of our key legislators,SenatorOgdenandRepresentativeGattis.Ihaveprovidedboth offices with a proposed amendment to the relevant statute, as well as other background information and justification to support this statutorychange.Ifthisnewlegislationispassedandsignedintolaw,thosewhoowebacktaxeswouldbeallowedanextensiontorepaythebacktaxeswhichisequaltothetimethatthesebacktaxeswereerroneouslyomitted.Iamhopefulthatourelectedrepresentatives(OgdenandGattis)willsupportusingettingthisstatutorychangethruthelegislativeprocess,andintolawearlyin2007.Staytuned!! Formoreinformation,pleasecontactTax-Chair@ridgewoodhoa.com SocialCommittee:TheChristmasfunctiononDecember3rdwasagreatsuccess.Pam,onceagain,didagreatjobinorganizingthisfortheneighborhood.Gary,oftheNeighborhoodWatchcommittee,servedover120cupsofhotchocolate.Thesmall,mediumandadultkidsreallyenjoyedthetrainridethattookthemthrutheneighborhood.Afterwards,manyofthechildrenstoodinthecoldjustsotheycouldsitonSanta’slapandtalk.Committeemembersandresidentsallcommented on the success of the event. And so did Mrs. SantaClaus. Contact:Social-chair@ridgewoodhoa.comforSocialCommittee CrimeWatchCommittee:TheCrimeWatchCommitteealongwiththeSocialCommitteeheldameetingonDecember13th.Themaintopicsofthemeetingincludedspeedingwithinourneighborhood,whetheritwasbyresidentsofourneighborhoodorpersonsdrivingthroughourneighborhoodasashortcut.Thereistalkaboutlookingintoaddingspeedbumpsonvariousstreetswithinourneighborhoodtocurbthespeeders.However,theLeanderPoliceDepartmentarenotonlylookingforpersonsthatspeedthroughtheneighborhood;butarealsowatchingforpersonsnotproperlyusingtheirturningindicators,orpersonsnotstoppingatstopsigns,orevenpersonsrunningintohomes.Thisdidhappen,andluckilynobodywashurt. Todriveon183A(onceopen),youcaneitherusecashortheTX-Tag.TX-Tag’sarecurrentlyfree;however,youmustdeposit$20.00intotheTX-Tagaccounttouseit.FromJanuarythroughFebruaryof2007therewillbelandscapingperformed. The 183A portion by our neighborhood isscheduledtobeopenbymid-March,2007.

Parents, Boys, & Girls ThereisaNewChapteroftheInternationalOrderofDeMolayforboysnow formingand theAssemblyof the InternationalRainbowforGirlsismovingcloser.Itisnotscouting,andisnotareligiousorganization.Butitisagreatsocialgroupforhomeschoolandpublicschoolstudents.Thelocalchaptersoffercollegescholarships,friendships,leadershiptraining,communityservice, game nights (X-Box, chess, etc), movies, sports,public speaking, dances, and competitive events statewide.Requirements include boys ages 12 – 21, and girls ages 11–20.
