Welcome back. I hope you all enjoyed the break. As hard as it may be to believe, the schoolschoolschoolschool year is nearly half over and we still have much work to do. Please encourage your child to con-tinue to focus on learning. I encourage all of you to continue to be actively involved in your child's education. Show that you value education by coming to our next Parent-Teacher Conference Nights. Take part and help your child by talking about the day and setting aside time to read to and with your child. One final, very important, thought as we head into the New Year: As parents and community members, you can help us in this challenge. As you work with your children at home with their homework, try to get them to see

the “connections.” If you own a business or do work that involves skills that can be tied to what your child is learning in class, we would love suggestions for projects that

might enhance or further students’ interest in that subject. If you would like to come and speak to our students about your work and how you rely on literacy, math, and science skills, please give us a call and volunteer. We welcome your support and help.
