PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE I’d like to start out by thanking Pat Atkinson and her hard working crew for the wonderful Memorial Day program held on May 26th. It was somber, moving, and emotional. It was a group of people, coming together, to honor and memorialize our armed services members who have given their lives in order to preserve and pro-tect us, our values, our way of life, and our country. As a friend of mine stated, “We didn’t know them all, but we owe them all”. With all the strife and tension we have in our country today, it felt good to be there, unified, proud to be American, honoring those who have kept it all possible. A very moving ceremony. On a different note, you may or may not be aware that the Board encourages social gatherings and is glad to participate administratively. So if you have a plan for the community, such as a Saint Patrick’s Day or Valentine Day party, let us hear about it. For tax and budget purposes our aim should be to break even. This means that admis-sion will have to be charged for some special events. We ask that you pass your budget by Di-rector Werner Bols. He has volunteered to renew event budgets as a “second set of eyes” to make sure we stand a reasonable chance of breaking even. As I write this, I am thinking, ”The rain has to ease up someday!" Glenn Meyer, President

From the Manager

Rainy Days are Here Again! At first, (a month ago) it was very refreshing to see we turned the corner on the dry season. The plants and grass were very thankful and we could finally give the irrigation pumps a rest. How-ever, I doubt anyone was expecting the 15-17 inch-es by May 21st. With the rain comes issues, such as; the opening of the locks, ants, the influx of wa-ter into the lift station, ants, the moving of soil to the parking areas, ants, leaks in units and the slow down of business services that help Circle Bay on a regular basis. Oh did I mention the ants. If it is any comfort, we are not alone. The rain is falling on all the roofs in Martin County testing our metal and giving Community Managers across Stuart more gray hair.

On a positive note, we are installing the new fire extinguisher boxes (with the recess lids), this should help us minimize the amount of lids that go sailing in the wind and they look nice. Also, we are installing new tack boards around the entrances of each building. The boards are made of rubber and aluminum and should hold the tacks secure, longer. A couple of overdue thank you's to an-nounce. Thank you very much to Bill Flanigan, Bill Hines, Andy Kudley, Dennis Swartwood, and the rest of the volunteer team that rebuilt the gates down at the work shop and helped us modify the railing around the pool and club house. If you like getting busy and can appreciate being around men with a very deep sophisticated sense of humor, you may consider teaming up with this crew next sea-son for upcoming projects. Lastly, we have some very saddened ladies who lost two Maj Jongg sets at the Clubhouse. Someone took the sets that were in cases on the floor, (hopefully, borrowed to be returned) but if you are reading this and know where the games are, PLEASE, see they are returned ASAP to the Club house. Sincerely, Todd Harper Association Manger

A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE Many of our snow-bird friends and neighbors have gone north for the sea-son. We wish them a safe trip and look forward to their return. Here at Circle Bay Yacht and Sailing Club, we had two manor events in May; Mother’s day breakfast, and Memo-rial Day Celebration. The annual Mother’s Day breakfast was headed up by Mary and Dennis Stewart, they have it organized like clockwork. The gentlemen of the yacht club came together and served an outstand-ing breakfast to our ladies. There were approxi-mately 70 in attendance. There was plenty of food and laughter for everyone. Thanks to Mary, Dennis and all the volunteers. The Memorial Day Celebration was orga-nized again this year by Pat Atkinson. The event was held in the Clubhouse because of the weather. There were about 75 in attendance and plenty of food. The program was outstanding and Brian

Mast was our guest speaker. It was a very mean-ingful and moving celebration. Recognizing and thanking our veterans is a wonderful idea. Thank you Pat and the volunteers for putting together a first class event. The other news is the bridge of CBY&SC has voted to buy a portable water pump for the CBYC. The pump will be used to pump water out of the hot tub for service and pump out boats to avoid sinking. The price of the pump is around $500.00. We are trying to have a BOAT-A-CADE in June. We are open to suggestion just let me know what you would like to do. Have fun, Larry Bryant Commodore

Social Activities Sauder's Landing was the spot for our May luncheon again this year. However, this year we had 11 women attend-ing enjoying the food and social-izing. Our next luncheon will be at Guanabanas in Jupiter on June 14th. Please note that we will be meeting at the Clubhouse at 11:15 AM. Lee Weeks (631-4236) will be taking your reservation. Friday Night Socials are on summer sched-ule. You know the drill… first to arrive start setting up; all help clean up. At the moment we have had as many as 12 come out. Why not join the group… you might enjoy it and become a regular! Ginny Gande

During this past season a number of projects were com-pleted by several willing asso-ciation members. Two small grills on deck were restored to

proper working order. Three gates were rebuilt for the maintenance storage area and a gate and fence along the pool area were rebuilt to proper specification. All this was accomplished with a large savings to our association. I personally would like to thank Bill Flanigan, Rick Femovich, Andrew Kudley, Dennis Swartwood , and Richard Brown for helping me. Hurricanes

Once again that season is here! If you are leaving your vessel at the dock you MUST have 4- 100' (minimum) of line to tie off with. Chafe gear. Your lines are only as good as the gear you use. Towels are useless! Swim noo-dles, useless! If we have a hurricane that is threatening, we will Robo call you to standby for further instruc-tions. We will have a skippers meeting in the Clubhouse at 0800 hrs on the morning that we will be commencing the tie-off's. All vessels intending to leave prior to this operation MUST be out of the basin's the night be-fore, or PRIOR to 0800 hrs. that morning. Thanks for your cooperation. Tom Ahern Dockmaster
