Dates to remember
Our hardworking Secretary Margot has been convalescing at home after her recent illness and gradually improving, though I think she still tires easily. When we called over to see her a while ago their house was a bough of flowers - proof that Margot is much loved, though we already knew that. While she's been getting back to health Douglas has been doing the basics as Acting Secretary under Margot's guidance. We've had two successful Probus activities lately. The
Bridgeman Downs Probus Quiz at Kedron-Wavell RSL was enjoyable and very well organised. Thank you again to Robin Edwards for her usual efficiency ar-ranging the Hamilton end of proceedings. We fielded two tables and though we didn't win a place we all enjoyed it. The questions are quite easy in the early stages and become progressively more difficult. The answers are given by the consensus of those at the table rather than by individuals, so it's fun rather than being too serious. Maybe next year we'll muster three tables. The annual Picnic in the Park at Kalinga also organised by Robin, was a happy day. There were ex-cellent pizzas, giant strawberries, chocolates and more, and the rain held off. It was lovely being out in the open air after a wet week. No doubt people will now be looking forward to the Montville/ Maleny day on 19th July. Leafy

Vale Jill Pozzi
I think most members will now be aware of the sad news of Jill's death on Wednesday 21st June. Jill was nearly 84 years old when she died. She joined the Hamilton Probus Club on 4th May 2010, was Junior Vice President in 2013, Vice President in 2014, and President in 2015. I'm sure our members will remember the very im-pressive 10 Minute Talk Jill gave at a General Meeting not long before her health deteriorated, in which she spoke so modestly about her contribu-
tion in her lifetime career as a specialist anaesthetist. It was so well put together and so modestly summed up her lifetime contribution in the pio-neering days for women as medical specialists. We will not forget her. Vale Jill.

David McEvoy’s Wine Selections
Wine Again
With the onset of colder weather some of us are looking to our supplies of ap-
pealing red wines to enjoy on winter’s nights. To be even handed there are en-
joyable whites that also fit the bill. On request I have browsed the shelves of
the ever available Dan Murphy Cellars at Hamilton, to come up with sugges-
tions for our club members who are looking for ideas on wine purchases, being
an update on the wine recommendations 2016, published in our newsletter.
Again this is a personal selection and not an authorative review and I am aware
that many Probus members are knowledgeable about wine and have their own
sources of supply. Generally I can recommend the wines in the list on the basis
of my own experience, or from knowledge of the grower or the region. Wines
marked with an asterisk are personal favourites or wines that are especially
good value.
Enjoy, David McEvoy
