With nearly 70 percent of our revenue from professional markets, our strong portfolio is well positioned for the future. One of our key global markets is golf, which Toro entered in 1921 by mounting five reel mowers on a Toro tractor to cut the fairways at The Minikahda Club in Minneapolis.

Today, more than 5,300 dedicated and talented employees around the world continue to introduce cutting-edge products to meet the changing needs of our customers. Golf course superintendents, sports field and municipal managers, and landscape contractors count on our water-efficient irrigation systems; precision fairway, rough and greens mowers; commercial mowers; and compact utility equipment.

In the residential market, which we entered in 1935 with the introduction of our first power mower, homeowners have come to count on our many brands and products to help maintain their yards and driveways. • Toro makes steam engines for merchant supply ships during World War I.

• The Center for Advanced Turf Technology (CATT) is formed to research and develop emerging technologies in turf maintenance. A partnership is formed with The First Tee™ to introduce kids to the game of golf.

2001

• Acquired Goossen Industries, Inc., adding Goossen’s debris blowers to Toro’s commercial product line. Also, acquired EICON, a maker of commercial irrigation controllers, and Sentinel Systems central control irrigation systems.

2005

• Acquired Hayter, Ltd., a manufacturer of consumer and commercial mowing products in the United Kingdom.

2006

• Hosted the first annual WaterSmart Symposium to discuss the importance of proper water management. Partnered with The K Club in Ireland to help prepare for the 2006 Ryder Cup. First to be named to the Environmental Institute for Golf’s Victory Club for giving more than $1 million to the organization’s environmental efforts.

2007

• Acquired Rain Master™ Irrigation Systems, and Turf Guard™ Wireless Monitoring Technology. Announced a partnership with the State of New York to provide the next-generation of turf maintenance equipment powered by hydrogen fuel cells. Celebrated 80 years of partnership with the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA). Partnerships formed with the charitable arms of Major League Baseball and U.S. Soccer.

2008

• Toro diesel-powered golf course, sports fields and grounds, and landscape contractor equipment approved to use biodiesel fuel blends up to B20.
