Thank you for all the cards, flowers, prayers, and concerts for Diane during her recent injury. Your kind
thoughts meant so much to us.

A Note of Thanks As we bask in the love of God, shown to us in the birth of the Christ Child, we remember, as well, the thought-
fulness, preparation and hard work of staff, Liturgy Team, Operations, Office staff and volunteers, members
and friends of Trinity who made the celebrations come alive for all of us, and for all of the visitors who found
their way to us this season. We are strong and our witness is great because of our common work together, and I
am grateful both for the work of our staff and for leaders and volunteers who made this season, from Advent
through this Sunday’s celebration of Epiphany, so rich and meaningful.
On a personal note, I thank the congregation for your generous Christmas gift, and for all your warm and
thoughtful Christmas greetings to me and my family. A blessed new year to you and all your loved ones!
Pr Janet Peterman

What’s your favorite navigational tool – Map? Compass? GPS?
Where do you turn when you need to navigate the geography of faith?
What comes to mind when someone talks about God’s will?
These are some of the questions we will be considering at our next Christian Formation evening event on
January 21 from 4-6pm. We will have some fun with those old-school navigational technologies (who really
knows how to use a compass???); weather-permitting, we’ll try our hand at star navigations or at least
star-gazing, have a warm supper together and a look into Scriptures that show us how God leads his people.
Check out the sign-up sheet in the narthex this week!
All ages and stages are welcome and ride-sharing is available.
See Nina Wason for more details.
Thank you Trinity for Your Generous Support of Angel Tree Gifts
for Martin Luther Silver Springs Children
There were many smiles and cheers at Silver Springs on Thursday, December 14th during the annual
children's Christmas party. More than 300 children, staff and Board members, volunteers, and friends
gathered for a delicious buffet dinner, to sing traditional holiday songs, and to celebrate as 65 children each
received a stack of donated gifts. After the gift-giving, the fun continued in the children's residence where
the boys and girls opened their presents and each chose a large stuffed animal from a collection of donated
furry friends displayed along the Weinmann lobby railings (shown below).
Our holiday celebration was not over yet... approximately 40 children woke up at Silver Springs on
Christmas morning and will open gifts from Santa and his many elves. Volunteers will be on hand to pre-
sent the children with a delicious breakfast as well!
Thank you to all who donated gifts for the children, the volunteers who wrapped and stacked presents, and
the countless caring friends who are helping to bring smiles to many children's faces at Silver Springs
throughout the holiday season this year!
TCNSK & Trinity Church Members Working Together
On Thursday, December 28th, TCNSK staff & families delivered winter coats donated through their “Cy
of Relief” coat drive in memory of Trinity member Cy Gdovin. The school families & staff members
also created 135 blessing bags that were handed out as well. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans provided
funding for the meal served by Trinity members and TCNSK staff and families.
Giving Fatigue
Having just come out of the most giving time of the year for most individuals it is no wonder why
food banks seem to suffer from the ‘giving fatigue”. It comes at a time when the importance of food
donations in this country is more pronounced than ever before. Some 41 million Americans are
estimated to be “food insecure” , which means they cannot always obtain adequate nutrition for
themselves or their families. One in seven Americans are relying on a food bank for service.
Our local Daily Bread Food Bank partner is no different, having served some 900 individuals per month this past
year, but they too are facing the post holiday shortages like many food banks across the country. So start this post
holiday season by checking your own pantry at home and maybe, just maybe there are items that are still good that
you have either forgotten about or frankly over-stocked. Bring them to church for donation. Let the kids help you
find items and let them know of the hunger needs right here in their own neighborhood. Try using that buy one
get one food coupon and turn it into a buy one give one. Get a gift card for Christmas? Make someone a gift.
Hunger isn’t seasonal.
Giving at Trinity has never been seasonal.
