In choosing an idea for the History Fair topic of: Revolution, Reaction, and Reform, we

had to think of what would actually be practical to base our project on. That in itself really

narrowed down our choices by eliminating three choices that happened so long ago references

and interviews would be a major struggle. Then we came to the troubles which was by far the

best option due to the fact that it shaped the lives of so many Irish and British people during a

time period that many people still alive today could relate to.

After deciding upon the topic of the Troubles our research started with a general

background search through the use of the Conflict Archive on the Internet. This one website gave

us loads of background information, important dates, and effects of our topic. We then went and

scourer the internet for other reputable sources likes NBC and the Bloody Sunday Trust

foundation. After that we went to the Hamilton Wenham Public library to obtain printed

references from people who actually lived during the time and then later wrote about it. Our

research ended with an interview of Juliana Boyd and her husband who both lived during the

troubles and were from the two conflicting religious backgrounds.

Right from the beginning we knew we wanted to do a website that was at the very least

moderately interactive and interesting to look through. That helped us decide on using a timeline,

Google map, and multiple video and audio files in order to display the information we were

trying to get out there. We actually had to change our project slightly during the creation of the

website we found that it was a little more difficult to actually decide on what parts of the

Troubles we actually wanted to put in because there were so many events that happened yet we

needed to pick three or four that were very important and stood out above the others. When we

finally decided on all of the different Revolutionary events, Reactions, and Reforms we found

that it was smooth sailing much like we had intended it to be from the start.

The troubles in itself were a huge Revolution against the oppression that the British had

been enforcing on the Northern Irish. After any event that happened during the Troubles one side

or the other would react to this event with violence that would then cause a reaction from the

other side creating a chain of reactions. In the end Parliament ended up Reforming the way the

people In Northern Ireland could live and act and these changes are still felt to this day.
