The TSCA is a United States law, passed by the United States Congress in 1976, that regulates the introduction of new or

already existing chemicals.

The TSCA is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The act gives the EPA the authority to require reporting, record keeping and testing requirements, and restrictions relating to chemical substances and/ or mixtures. Certain substances such

as food, drugs, cosmetics, and pesticides are generally excluded from the TSCA.

TSCA addresses the production, importation, use, and disposal of specific chemicals including polychlorinated biphenyl's (PCB’s),

Radon, asbestos, and lead based paint.

• Prohibits importation of toxic chemicals

• Regulates use of chemicals

• Limits use of toxic chemicals in the environment
