A Bug Hotel for your garden

You will need a selection of the following:• Dead wood• Tree bark• Pinecones• Small stones• Twigs• Cardboard tubes• Egg cartons• Hay• Bits of old tiles• Toilet roll inners

• 6 Recycled tin cans (washed) or other containers.

• Silicone or super glue

What to do:1. Make sure the cans/containers are clean, open at one end and closed at the other.2. When the cans are dry stick them together. (You can choose your own

design)3. Leave the cans until the glue is completely dry.4. Fill each of the cans with a different material that you have collected.5. You can tie your bug hotel on a balcony or put the it in your garden. If you put it on the

ground make sure that it’s level and that it won’t fall over or be blown over by the wind. Make sure it’s protected from things like flying footballs and pets. It is best if it is surrounded by flowers. (Keep it away from any vegetables that you are growing).

Bugs love dark spaces, wood, dead leaves and little holes that they can safely hide in so if you build a bug hotel, you need to recreate the bug’s natural habitat.
