Die erste Adresse in Deutschland für Ozean-, Erd- und Klimaforschung ist Kiel – das gilt auch für Studenten. Die Kieler Christian-Albrechts-Universität hat als eine der ersten Hochschulen auf diesem Gebiet ein Paket neuer, aufeinander aufbauender Bachelor- und Masterstudiengänge geschnürt, das jetzt offiziell von der Akkreditierungsagentur ASIIN zugelassen wurde. Im Oktober beginnen die ersten Studierenden mit ihrem Studium, das eng mit dem Leibniz-Institut für Meereswissenschaften IFM-GEOMAR verbunden ist.

Das neue Programm besteht aus einem gemeinsamen dreijährigen Bachelorstudium: Physik des Erdsystems: Meteorologie – Ozeanographie – Geophysik. Das deckt eine breite Grundausbildung ab – von Angewandter Mathematik bis zur Methodik der Physik, die in den drei Spezialisierungen vertieft werden kann.
