The UX mindset – Sales

UX means reduced risk Getting to know target users Define challenges, needs and goals Prototype and usability test continuously throughout design and development

UX means scope control Focus on the most crucial user needs, build a minimum viable product scope No need to pay for development of functions where cost exceeds benefit (UX process will

discover unneeded functionality before coding starts)

UX means reduced time to market Precise and prioritised requirements based on user stories Detailed specification and well-tested prototypes Early phase developement proof of concepts Building phase much more effective

The UX mindset – Sales

UX means quality increase UX processes involve all project participant. Creates personal engagement for the whole

team. UX is all about quality through all the links in the whole chain.

UX means customer engagement increase UX means including the customer at every stage Customer gets a visual reassurance of how the product evolves out of well defined and

tested needs. Cost becomes more apparent and accepted (customer likely to invest even more)

UX means user satisfaction increase The UX goal is that the user shall complete his/her tasks without having to think about how

to use a tool. Tasks become apparent, tools become natural, self-evident and almost invisible.

The UX mindset – Project Lead

UX means easier resource planning No need to staff up and dedicate some highly specialised technical personnel at an early

stage User focus prevents too early focus on technology UX invites an agile method with a lean team

UX means easier project phase planning Working with well defined requirements broken into epics and user stories on a timeline,

makes planning for releases easier and more understandable for all project participants and the customer.

UX means easier for team members to estimate tasks UX calls for user story break down and estimation of tasks in groups, discussing spec., and

debating ways to solve a specific technological challenge.

The UX mindset – Project Lead

UX means easier to track work done Breaking down all efforts needed to deliver a product means that people cannot log work

hours on activities not estimated and included in the user story break down.

Summary

UX – not a design delivery but a shared mindset across all disciplines involved in IT projects

UX – Starts and ends with the user. The needs of the Product Owner and other stakeholders are (almost never) the same as the needs of the users.

UX – never assumes anything. Always tests everything.

UX – is always about prioritising what to include and what not to include.

UX – is about reduced risk, more control, increased engagement, increased quality, increased satisfaction, and bulletproof project management!
