• Depending on the organization and the goals, we can have different design and implementation.

• We can apply IoT technology on a machine or other tools/devices such as PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), POD (Point of Delivery), … than through a middleware or a gat-way collect data, send them to the cloud for processes improvement, changes or business analysis.

• In other cases we can reach the goals with a direct technology integration.

Operation and Information Technology System Integration

• An IoT project needs different approach depending of the organization dimension, the project complexity and the final objective.

• For a SME (Small and Medium Enterprise), the assessment activities could be easier and faster than a MCN (Multinational Corporation).

• In a MCN, such as an automotive or a capital good company, the assessment is completely different and needs more time, and efforts.


For all the listed reasons it’s necessary to collaborate with others Industry 4.0 providers and create team with a mix of competencies and skills

Project Objectives

OT & IT System IntegrationSCAI Consulting and Orchestra are jointly developing an Industry 4.0 project for a SME company. The project is already in progress and the goal is the digital transformation of the company.

SCAI Consulting has the role of governance and system integration. Orchestra is providing the technical solution. The two company have created a team with all the necessary skills and competencies.

The customer company is located in the middle Italy, where SCAI Consulting has a branch and a team of IoT expert.

OT & IT System Integration – RADA Partnership RADA founded in Turin in 1992, is an other partner of SCAI Consulting. In the last years it is focused in software solutions and products for Time & Motion Analysis. Actually, the main activities of RADA are: • consulting support for the introduction of new best practice

processes in work analysis domain• development of new SW solutions, evolutionary maintenance,

processes support and IoT applications.

SCAI Consulting and RADA are participating at the 2nd Horizon2020 Call - IoT4Industry - with an innovative IoT Prototype proposal.The prototype applies the TRL 6 (Technology Readiness Level demonstrated in relevantenvironment ).


RADA Suite Solutions The suite is a modular WEB tool used to manage Technological Process Documentation. It’s a “PLM” application (Product&Process Lifecycle Management) used by Manufacturing Engineering, Central Departments and Plants. The cycle order configurationis sent to the MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and other Line Production Systems and Calculation Standard Costs. It’s main competitor is PROPLANNER.


LEAN-PROD is the tool for the lean management of the production units tailored to manage the reduction of the Life Cycle Cost (LCC).

PROD-LAUNCH is the foundation for the effective management of the launch in production of new products and product changes.

PROD-COST is the solution for the management and analysis of manufacturing related product costs and manufacturing labor costs.

SCM Project Case History

• SCM Group is a worldwide leader in technologies for processing a wide range of materials: wood, plastic, glass, stone, metal and composite materials.

• SCAI Consulting was involved as system integrator and project governance.

• The scope of the project is the creation and integration of an Industrial IoT platform for the Digital Transformation of the SCM Group.

• The Industrial IoT CP platform is an end-to-end infrastructure for industries and privatecompanies, available both as a “cloudservice” and as an “in-house” installation.

SCM Project Case History

The main objectives of the SCM solution are:• Coupling reduction between machinedesign and service prototyping

• Parallelism Machinery Design, ServicePrototyping, Fast Prototyping

• Creating test scenarios and quick feedback• Cost reduction (machine availability, test,etc.).


INDUSTRY 4.0 for sustainable business models

• The IoT technologies can be applied to different activities, such as monitoring, alert, service delivery, tracking, energy saving, environmental protection and safeguard.

• SCAI Consulting, because of its competencies in Facility Management, is also developing Domotic IoT applications.

• In particular, inside the Sustainability Project of an important customer, it has designed a Platform with the aim to manage the Energy and Environmental System of a building, office or organization.
