Dear Parents and Friends
Thank you for completing our questionnaires every week. So far we have been able
to offer spaces for all families that have requested them on the survey, however we
are now nearly at capacity. The government have said that schools must continue
to operate in bubbles of no more than 15 this term. There will be another
questionnaire next week; we have spaces in all classes at All Saints (although
nearly half the school is back), spaces for Key Workers at St Martin and spaces for
Y5 or Y6 children at St Martin in Mrs Coates’ bubble. It’s so lovely to be seeing
more of you. Those of you still at home it is wonderful to see lots of you in worship
on Friday, bringing even more of our community together. Thank you!
Our school risk assessments for opening during the pandemic are on our websites and are regularly
updated following approval from DEMAT.
Some people have asked me whether uniform will be mandatory in September. As you are aware; we do
not know what school will be like in the autumn. However, it is the governments hope that all children will
be back. If that is the case and we don’t have to wash our clothes every day then uniform will be worn
again. It really helps children’s learning behaviour and would be a great start to the new school year, even if
attendance isn’t mandatory. Sorry that I cannot be more definite at this stage. To help we will be willing to
have a two week grace period for anyone who wants to wait until September to buy new uniform. You can
order uniform online through the Gooddies store. A link to this is on our websites under the parents' tab.
I am sending a safeguarding flyer with this newsletter; please do have a read about the ways that we can
keep each other safe at this time (adults and children).
School Fundraising Normally at this time of year we are holding the summer fair and other
events, not only to have fun but also to help raise money to buy books
and resources to enhance topics and classrooms the following
academic year.
A little thing like a pandemic isn’t going to stop us fundraising so over
the next few weeks we will be running a few virtual fundraising events.
This week we have a raffle with a very fabulous prize. The lovely Peg
and Mallet Company – www.pegandmallet.com have very kindly donated one of their canvas tents for a
night. For £1.50 a ticket you can be in with a chance to win a brilliant backyard campout and have the tent
for a night of your choosing in July. Mr and Mrs Marshall will even come and put it up in your garden for
you! A perfect way to entertain the children when you can’t go anywhere.
Tickets can be bought through ParentMail. This will allocate you a number for each ticket you buy and we
will then use a number randomiser on Monday 29th June to choose the winner. The raffle is open to both
St. Martin and All Saints. You can buy as many tickets as you like as of course the more you buy the
greater the chance you have to win and the more you support the school.
Good luck and thank you in advance for supporting us.

A Forest School Thank You
A really big thank you to Mr and Mrs Walker for giving up three hours of their weekend to cut
down the stinging nettles in All Saints’ Forest School area. The children in school are really
benefitting from being able to use this area in the hot weather so thank you very much!
Norfolk Constabulary Newsletter
The last newsletter from Norfolk Constabulary this term is being sent together with our
newsletter today. It contains useful information and activities for the children.
Dinner Money at St Martin Mrs McAnulty has sent reminders out for the amount outstanding for dinners. Presently this is quite a substantial amount: £1290. We are aware that Covid 19 may mean that some people may be in financial difficulty, please let us know (in confidence) if you are. If you are lucky enough for this not to be you we’d really appreciate the balance being cleared as soon as possible. Many thanks. Nursery Places at St Martin
We currently have spaces for September available for pre-school children
aged 3 years old or above in our Nursery at St Martin. We have a new,
experienced, Nursery Manager in place so you will be joining us at an
exciting time. Please help us spread the word as widely as possible. If you or
anyone you know might be interested please contact Mrs Goodrum in the
school office in the first instance. We can talk to you on the phone or via
Zoom and will happily arrange a virtual tour for you.
Best wishes for a happy weekend. Katherine Howe
Can you see what fun and learning is happening in the sun where you are?

Dear SECT and Residents, WEEKLY UPDATE TUESDAY 23 June - Shouldham Emergency Contingency Team (SECT).
Nigel has asked me to cover the weekly update this week and what a momentus one it is!
The daily Downing Street briefing yesterday announced the start of what I’m sure is both a welcome and quite difficult
adjustment for those in the ‘shielding’ category who have been ‘confined to barracks’ for 3 months. The message is
that you have a couple of weeks to wait until the 6 July, after which you can gradually start to venture out and enjoy
the freedom of the outdoors and resume some of those routine/mundane tasks to shop and visit or have visits from
family and friends. Of course, the advice is that you adjust to this at you own pace and dependent on your own
circumstances and measure the risk versus benefit accordingly.
Just as the Government has said they will ‘pause’ the Resilience Support of food packages and volunteer services etc,
then it seems the right time for SECT to review the need for it to continue in its current form beyond the 1st August.
As you probably know we set up SECT, supported by the Parish Council, a week before the lockdown on 23rd March,
in response to the community talking about how we might support each other to face what was to come. The
Government Community Resilience Volunteer groups were not set up for another month, by which time we had
covered some 20 requests for assistance. We have currently satisfied 72 requests and we are very aware that ‘Family
and Friends’ support network probably covered much more than that in and around the community and we thank all
who are involved.
We will be contacting residents that are shielding and using the service provided by SECT in the next couple of weeks
to find out how you plan to take the next steps. We will not pause or suddenly stop the service if there
is anyone still in need. Importantly we as a team must not take our eye off the ball and no one will be
abandoned in a rush to return to ‘normality’ (or the pub!)
Please would you be kind enough to spread this message as widely as possible.
No one is to be left in a vulnerable position.
COVID-19 updates from the Parish Council (SECT) during this difficult period will only be promulgated from official
government sources. Please do and continue to follow the Government Directives.
Keep well and stay safe. Mike Inder
