The Vine Love God – Love People – Make Disciples February 26, 2014 Do you know the grace of God? Do you know the relentless, glorious grace of God? On March 2 nd , 2014 we will begin our new series, “Relentless Grace!” We will open this series with an examination of Jonah, the not-so-eager prophet to Ninevah. Now we may think of Jonah as a book about a man and a whale but if we scratch below the surface we find that Jonah is so much more. In fact, you may be surprised to discover the main character of Jonah is neither Jonah nor the whale. And while we often cite “running from God,” as the major theme of Jonah there is actually a much more significant message within those four short chapters in between Obadiah and Micah. But this series will not end with Jonah. It will take us directly into our study of the events leading up to and including the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. And finally we will gather to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord on Easter Sunday. You do not want to miss “Relentless Grace!” Join us Sundays at 10:00 am. Pastor Matt Have you memorized your Fighter Verse for this week? I know the temptation to put it aside and forget about it. But let me encourage you to take 5 minutes each day and read it. Parents read it with your kids. This is the very Word of God that He has preserved and gifted to us. Let’s not ignore it! “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.” (John 10:27-30, ESV)

Do you know the grace of God? Do you know the relentless, glorious grace of God?

On March 2nd, 2014 we will begin our new series, “Relentless Grace!”

We will open this series with an examination of Jonah, the not-so-eager prophet to Ninevah.

Pastor Matt

Have you memorized your Fighter Verse for this week? I know the temptation to put it aside and forget about it. But let me encourage you to take 5 minutes each day and read it. Parents read it with your kids. This is the very Word of God that He has preserved and gifted to us. Let’s not ignore it!

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.” (John 10:27-30, ESV)

In the Fall of 2013 we began our Sunday evening Vine Kids groups based off of Lifeway’s The Gospel Project. This material is excellent. Each week the Vine Kids examine a passage and learn how it points to Jesus. I have been blown away by the responses of these kids. They are hungry to learn and they love to share what they have learned each week. Our Sunday evening Vine Kids events are absolutely a success. With that said I do want to make a couple of quick points about our Vine Kids and The Gospel Project. Let me begin by thanking each one of you who has given of your time to help make this happen. Whether you taught a class or worked with music or the sound equipment or prepared materials each week, please know that I appreciate what you have done. And let me say that the kids appreciate it as well. Now I need to ask for a favor from those of you who have kids in Vine Kids and those of you who have volunteered in the past or will volunteer in the future. Let’s make Vine Kids a priority. Is there anything more important than teaching our kids about Jesus?

Teachers and leaders, we need you to arrive to receive kids at or before 4:50 pm each week. We will begin a new order of service this week and it is important that we are ready to begin at 5:00 pm. Parents we need you to make sure your kids show up and show up on time. I know there are other things that pull people away occasionally. That will never change but please help make Vine Kids a priority. I am also aware that there are times when the older kids do not want to go but let me encourage you to bring them. They need to hear the Gospel and I can assure you that they are hearing it each week at Vine Kids. Also, we are practicing for our Spring musical and we could really use all the Vine Kids there each week to practice. Let me also encourage you to invite others to join us on Sunday evenings. This is a great opportunity for outreach! It will take us all to continue to make Vine Kids successful. Please help us make this a priority.

What are we teaching our kids?

“The clear desire of all Christian parents is the spiritual wellbeing of their children. We want our children to be saved, to be part of the company of the redeemed. We yearn for the blessing of God’s covenant grace to be on our children… Our children must know that Jesus is the Savior who died for sinners. They must believe that He will save sinners who come to Him. But to cross from death to life they must believe that Jesus is their Savior.” - Tedd Tripp, author of Shepherding a Child's Heart

Want to share your testimony? Over the next few weeks I am in serious need to some volunteers to share your stories of how God has showered you with His grace. This could either be done live on Sunday mornings during the service or by video recorded in advance. If you feel like this is something that the Lord would have you do, please talk to me ASAP! This will be a bog part of our new series, “Relentless Grace.” Vine Men: What a wonderful time in the Lord we have had over our first two meetings of Vine Men. There is just something about a group of men getting together for Bible study and fellowship. If you have missed our first couple of meetings, no worries, just join us on Monday evenings at 7:00 pm. Vine Women: I understand that the Gideon study is going great as well. There is even a Facebook group page to share your progress and prayer requests. It’s not too late to join in the fun. The ladies meet on Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm. Vine Students: We are almost finished with our study of Gospel Revolution with Jason Gaston. Next up is The Gospel Project for Students. We will examine the atonement from Genesis to Revelation. This will coincide perfectly with our current sermon series, “Relentless Grace.” Please encourage your students ages 6th grade to 12th grade to attend each week. Also, if you have not paid your deposit for summer camp please do so this Sunday.
