Districts – Regionals – STATEfor Vista Oaks Swimmers months and months of training,

miles and miles of swimmingVista Oaks residents Mackenzie Alspaugh and Makenna Hall, along with teammates

Tamsin Wardell and Jyna Leckbee claimed the title of District 26-4A Champions in the Girls 200yd Freestyle Relay. A top 6 finish at districts is needed to advance to the Regional meet. Both swimmers advanced to regionals in their individual events!

The regional meet was held in San Antonio Feb 13-14 where Makenna finished 13th in the 100yd butterfly, and 17th in the 100yd breaststroke.

Mackenzie finished 4th in the 100yd butterfly and 2nd in the 200yd freestyle. The personal best time of 1:58.34 in the freestyle race was enough to advance her to State!

Mackenzie represented Rouse High School at the State 4A Championship meet held at the University of Texas Swim Center Feb 28-29. She was cheered on my family, friends, neighbors, teammates, RHS staff and also the school’s namesake, Mr. Charles Rouse. Another personal best time of 1:57.67 at prelims qualified her to swim finals on Saturday. She placed 7th overall in the 200 yd freestyle.

The RHS swim team is lead by Coach Marlene Chavez a former swimmer for Cedar Park High School. Coach Chavez took 12 swimmers to Districts, 8 swimmers to Regionals, and 1 to State. The swim team is always looking for dedicated swimmers to join the team.
