Huey Waldon will be the featured presenter that evening. His presentation, “Music Technology for Church

Musicians,” will introduce us to ways the computer and new music applications can help with everyday chal-

lenges face by church musicians.

end of the street. You'll be facing the infirmary. Turn right and park in one of the lots or on the street. Look for

INSPIRING WORSHIP

The 11th Annual University of Florida Sacred Music Workshop

This year’s workshop will begin on the evening of Sun-

day, May 6 with an organ recital by College of the Arts

graduate Shawn Thomas at First Presbyterian Church in

downtown Gainesville. On Monday, May 7, Peter Kinzie

from Classic Church Organs will present a workshop on

MIDI technology at the Episcopal Chapel of the Incarna-

tion. Christopher Jacobson, Duke University Chapel Or-

ganist, will then host sessions on service playing and an-

them accompaniment. Monday evening’s event will be a

hymn festival led by Mr. Jacobson & organ recital by UF

organ students held in the University Auditorium. Addi-

tional events will include sessions on the aging voice,

handbells, and a choral reading session.

The workshop will conclude on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 8, with an organ masterclass led by UF organ

AGO NATIONAL CONVENTION: KANSAS CITY, MO

The AGO National Convention is July 2–6, 2018 in Kansas City, MO. Time is running out for

early registration discounts. Through March 31, regular members can register for $435 (in-

Christopher Houlihan, Diane Meredith Belcher, and a host of others will perform recitals.

CHARLESTON: OLD ST. ANDREWS PARISH CHURCH (ACNA)

Old St. Andrew's Parish Church (2604 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414) is immediately seeking

an Organist and Keyboard Player for our 11:00 sung Eucharist Service and/or a Leader/Keyboard Player

for our 9:00 Family Service. These two posts can be taken by the same person or we would consider split-

ting them. We are the oldest church south of Virginia and the 25th oldest church in the USA and we have

three services each Sunday at 8:00am (Spoken), 9:00am (Family Service) and 11:00am (Sung Eucharist).

Our combined congregation for these services is in the region of 350. The 11:00 service has a superb choir

which is under the direction of our Director of Music, David Acres, and the 9:00 service also has an excel-

lent ensemble of singers that would remain under the direction of our Organist/Keyboard player. There are

LEXINGTON, SC: SAXE GOTHA PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church is seeking applications to fill the part time position of Organist/Music

Associate. SGPC is a thriving ECO non-liturgical congregation in the heart of Lexington, SC, with an en-

gaging music and arts ministry. Responsibilities include providing organ accompaniment for two tradi-

tional worship services, accompanying weekly adult and youth choir rehearsals, directing the handbell en-

semble, and playing for funerals and weddings. The organist will serve on a team that includes the Direc-

tor of Music and Arts, several audio/visual specialists and a staff pianist. Qualified candidates will possess

at least an undergraduate degree in music and/or appropriate experience in a traditional worship setting.

This position has the possibility for expanding for the right candidate to complete administrative tasks for

the worship and arts ministry. This position can range from 10 to 30 hours a week with a salary ranging

AGO MUSIC EXCHANGE

There is still much music in the AGO Music Exchange housed at Second Presbyterian Church. There are a cou-

ple hundred titles of organ music and many choral anthems. To get a PDF listing of organ (by composer), organ

plus instrument, piano, wedding, Advent/Christmas, collections, etc., or to schedule a time to come browse the

collection, please email Julia Harlow, [email protected].

The collection is free to AGO members and their students. There are also many choral anthems. In addition to

this are many anthems for SAB, two-part, unison, junior and children's choirs. There are also several vocal solos

(many wedding), and 300+ individual copies of anthems. Organization of that is underway, but that won’t be

cataloged. You are welcome to come and browse. There is a piano in the room to try things out. Please come by

and take some music! As always, if you have organ music that you do not need anymore, and want to donate to
