A road survey is currently being undertaken over a 50m wide area to facilitate
detailed design of the road alignment. Engineering is also currently underway to
identify the best routes for bypasses and potential rerouting of the road. This
information will be discussed with the community.
As part of future consultation the management of potential roadside land use impacts
will be discussed with the communitiy.
The Waisoi Project would require Waidina Road to be widened to approximately
10m plus space for drains. The road surface may or may not be tarsealed.
This would be decided in the future.
A river crossing across the Waidina River would be built between
Waivaka and Delailasakau to access the proposed mine site.
The Waidina Road would be diverted around Naqali School and Navurevure village.
The actual road diversion routes are still under assessment at this time.
We are also considering upgrading the other crossings as a result of our studies.
