THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 13, 2017 RICKY'S COMMUNICATION PRAYER LIST FEBRUARY BIRTHDAYS SANCTUARY CHOIR REHEARSAL –FEBRUARY 15 ANNOUNCEMENTS MUSIC FOR SUNDAY RICKY'S COMMUNICATION Sharing together in the Lord’s Supper was very meaningful for me yesterday. It always is. There is something so unifying in taking the supper together – it always reminds me of my need for God’s mercy and His willingness to provide. It always reminds me that all of us come to Him as spiritual paupers and by His sacrifice we are made rich. It always reminds me that I approach the table as such an unworthy recipient, and because of His blood shed for me I am filled with worth. The transformation that comes through God’s gift of salvation is worth proclaiming and what better way to proclaim it than with our voices in song. Thank you for being such an integral part of our worship experience together. One of the many moving parts of yesterday’s service for me was the use of the violin. Helen Motter did a beautiful job playing. Instruments can add such a wonderful array of color to our musical expression. God has placed within our church many who have talents to play a variety of those instruments. With such a blessing comes a responsibility to use those gifts in service to the Lord. So……(that was the set up) …..we want to start (or re-start) an instrumental ensemble…..a church band….a church orchestra to be a part of our worship experience. Many of you have noted that you have played or still play an instrument. We need you!!!! You need to have played your instrument for at least 4 years, be able to play in tune (very, very, very, very, very IMPORTANT), have a good command of your instrument (be able to play your instrument in at least an advanced high school level). I know that some of you will have to get your lips back into shape (they say that instrumentalists make the best kissers). That’s okay! Get those lips and fingers and hands going so that we can begin to shape some new sounds for our worship gatherings. LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO PLAY IN THE FBC ORCHESTRA. I will have music for you for our first rehearsal, Sunday morning, February 26, from 8:45-9:40 a.m. in the Choir Room. BUT I NEED TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE COMING! If you need help getting your hands on an instrument, let me know immediately so we can get to work on that. If you know someone who has ability in one of the orchestra/band instruments, connect them to us in the music office. It is going to be exciting! He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Psalm 40:3
