MANSFIELD - The Great American Trailer ParkMusical, one of Off-Broadway’s longest runninghits, is coming to the Renaissance Theatre, Friday &Saturday, February 8 & 9 at 8PM and Sunday,February 10th at 3PM. This two-act musical, written by David Nehls andBetsy Kelso, explores the fiery relationshipsbetween the tenants of Armadillo Acres, Florida’smost notorious trailer park. Sparks fly when Pippi,the exotic dancer on the run from her MagicMarker-sniffing boyfriend, sets her sights onNorbert, the tollbooth collector husband of the ago-raphobic, Dr. Phil-loving Jeannie. Along for the rideare Betty, the crusty trailer park manager, Pickles,the hysterically pregnant and forlorn newlywed,Pippi’s psychotic ex-boyfriend, Duke and the sassyLinoleum, whose husband sits on death row simplybecause the town doesn’t have enough power toturn on the electric chair. With hysterically funnysongs that include “The Right Side of the Tracks”,“Flushed Down the Pipes, “Roadkill”, “The GreatAmerican TV Show”, “It Doesn’t Take a Genius”and “I’m Gonna Make Like a Nail and Press On”.

Joshua Thompson and Lighting Design by JeremyBarr, The Great American Trailer Park Musical fea-tures an incredibly talented cast of local and region-al favorites. Madeline Beer, seen most recently asElle Woods in the Renaissance production ofLegally Blonde: The Musical, takes the stage asJeannie. Cleveland’s Leslie Andrews, who alsoappeared in Legally Blonde as Paulette, plays Pippi.Ashland University grad Drew Rothhaar plays thefrustrated Norbert, Sarah Robertson, a veteran ofdozens of shows at the Renaissance and OSU-Mansfield, plays Pickles, and Harmoni Sauder, ofColumbus, returns to the Renaissance to play thewise-cracking Linoleum. Rounding out the cast areNew York actor Stephen Joshua Thompson as thederanged Duke and Jennifer Enskat as Betty.Thompson has appeared on the Ren stage as RumTum Tugger in Cats and appears in the upcomingfilm, Twin Primes. Enskat most recently starred asRoxie Hart in the Ren’s 2012 production of Chicago,as well as in the feature film, Perks of Being aWallflower.

Accompanied by a live, three-piece onstage band,The Great American Trailer Park Musical has beencalled “A comic masterpiece” and “A musical crossbetween South Park and Desperate Housewives.Despite the absurd subject matter, the show neverveers into the ridiculous. ASHLAND, Ashland University CoburnGallery’s art exhibition featuring the worksfrom the Ashland University Art DepartmentFaculty will be held through Feb. 15, 2013.

This annual exhibition highlights the two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks ofthe current faculty as professional artistsexhibiting in their prospective areas. The artdepartment faculty members pursue active stu-dio careers in addition to their teaching endeav-ors.

The exhibition will feature the following artdepartment faculty: George Kocar, PriscillaRoggenkamp, Dan McDonald, Cynthia Petry,Charles Caldemeyer, Jessica Maloney, KeithMcMahon, Larry Schiemann and Keith Dull.

As part of the exhibition, the Coburn Gallerywill host an opening reception on Thursday,Jan. 17, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The reception isfree and open to the public.

ASHLAND -Ashland University Department ofTheatre's “Season of Comedy from Stage andScreen” continues with “Little Shop of Horrors,”book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music byAlan Menken.

The musical debuted on the big screen in 1960and became an Off-Broadway sensation in 1982.Ashland University’s production is directed byAssistant Professor of Theatre Fabio Polanco withmusical direction by senior music education majorEddie Carney of Madison.

Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on Feb.22, 23 and March 1, 2 in Hugo Young Theatre. ASunday matinee performance is slated for Feb. 24 at2 p.m. A talkback with the cast and crew will beheld after the March 1 performance. Area schoolsare invited to attend a special school matinee per-formance on Friday, March 1, at 9 a.m. with seatsavailable at $2 each.

This comedy horror rock musical is an affection-ate spoof of the 1950s, sci-fi movies starring a hap-less floral shop worker who becomes an overnightsensation when he discovers an exotic plant with amysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon “AudreyII” grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortunein exchange for feeding its growing appetite.

The cast of nine include junior musical theatremajor Jacob Poiner of Wellington as the lead charac-

ter of “Seymour,” and junior musical theatre andvocal performance major Katie Mounts of Savannahas “Audrey,” the lead female character. “Mr.Mushnik,” the owner of the flower shop, is playedby senior theatre major Jensen Glick of Hilliardwhile junior theatre major Mason Adams ofAmherst portrays Audrey’s boyfriend “Orin.” Thethree female street urchins who function as “doo-wop” chorus girls Crystal, Ronette, and Chiffon areportrayed by senior musical theatre major JohannaRegan of Killingworth, Conn.; senior music per-formance major Brandy Riha of Geneva and juniormusical theatre major Kelsey Bowens ofWilloughby, respectively. Senior theatre majorEmily Plank of Cinnamon Lake will be the voice of“Audrey II” while junior theatre and journalismand digital media major Benjamin Isaiah Black ofAkron is the plant manipulator.
