The Youth Advocacy andInvolvement Office is nowaccepting applications for itsinternships in state governmentfrom interested first and secondyear students. Applicants mustsubmit (1) a North CarolinaInternship Application (must betyped), (2) a cover letteroutlining reasons you areinterested in each project forwhich you apply, (3)photocopies of application andcover letter for each project forwhich you apply, (4) atranscript of post-secondarygrades (student copy issufficient). Law studentsshould also submit coursegrades or a list of courses ifgrades are not available as wellas class rank, if available, (5) aresume. Completed

applications and all applicationmaterials should be submittedto the N.C. Internship Program,Youth Advocacy andInvolvement Office, 1319 MailService Center, Raleigh, NC27699-1319. The deadline toapply is January 24, 2000(postmark deadline). First Union Corporation LegalDivision, Charlotte, requestsapplications from first yearstudents interested in its 2000Summer Internship Program.Applicants should submit aresume, writing sample, oneletter of reference from one ofthe student's law schoolprofessors, a first semestertranscript and a one page essaydetailing the student's reasonsfor becoming a lawyer. Thedeadline to submit thisinformation to the CareerServices Office if Friday,January 28th at 12:00 noon. Ifyou do not have a transcript orlist of all first semester gradesby January 2 8 th, thatinformation may be submittedby February 4 th. Yourprofessor may direct his/her

The purpose of theprogram is to give NorthCarolina's major law firms aninside track on recruiting someof the state's most talentedminority law students. The Honorable Robert H.Edmunds, Jr., North CarolinaCourt ofAppeals, has requestedapplications for a judicialclerkship to begin in August of2000. Interested 3Ls shouldsubmit a cover letter, resumeand writing sample. He is alsoaccepting applications from 2Lsfor a position to begin inAugust of 2001. You may pick up yourprinting card with a total of 200 copies preprogrammed for the academicyear '99-00, Monday - Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.and 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. from Roslyn Mitchell in room 220. Additionalcards may also be purchased in denominations of $10 (200 copies) and $20(400 copies) during the same hours from Roslyn Mitchell. Evening studentsmay pick up and purchase cards Mondays and Thursdays from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. in room 208. Handle your card with care. Stolen, lost, or damagedcards will not be replaced.

There were a number of seriouscomputer viruses infecting thecomputers within the Law School

Community. All of the computers in the Law School are equipped witheither, Dr. Solomon's, McAffee, or Norton AntiVirus Protection Software.We have updated and standardized all of our computers with the currentversion of Dr. Solomon's AntiVirus Software. Any encounter of virus ona law school computer, should be reported immediately to the circulationdesk clerk on duty in the law school library.

The student worker must be flexible and ableto prioritize and handle a myriad of ongoing task.
