Vitality empowers you to improve your health by giving you the knowledge, tools and motivation to set and meet your health goals. And the healthier you get, the more Vitality rewards you!

As you interact with Vitality to improve your health, you earn Vitality points which will determine your Vitality status. The higher your Vitality status, the greater the rewards you qualify for.

Know your health status

Vitality recognises that people’s health needs differ, so we have developed an interactive, online tool that adapts the Vitality programme to meet each individual’s needs.

You complete a Personal Health Review on www.discovery.co.za to fi nd out how healthy you are and earn Vitality points. You can also do various health assessments to learn more about your health, and earn more Vitality points.

Vitality makes it easier for you to get healthier by giving you access to a range of health and fi tness partners at reduced rates. Vitality gives you extra Vitality points for improving key areas of your health and achieving your personalised health goals. Plus, Vitality offers tailored wellness initiatives for every stage of your life.

Enjoy the rewards

Vitality’s rewards include savings on local and international fl ights, holiday accommodation, car rental and shopping savings. Because the size of your saving is directly linked to your Vitality status, your rewards increase as you work with Vitality to get healthier.

In addition, the DiscoveryCard gives you cash back at a wide range of partner stores and savings on international travel according to your Vitality status.

Vitality members start at Blue Vitality status, progress to Bronze, Silver, Gold and, ultimately, Diamond status. The table below shows how many Vitality points you need to reach each status.

Understanding your health status is the first step to getting healthier To get healthier, you fi rst need to understand your health status and what your health risk factors are. Vitality offers a range of health assessments to help you learn more about your health.

The Personal Health Review Complete a Personal Health Review on www.discovery.co.za to fi nd out your major health risk factors and earn 2 000 Vitality points. You‘ll fi nd out your Vitality Age, which is a measure of your health status relative to your biological age. Vitality adapts to your unique needs and creates personal pathways that you can follow to meet your health goals.

Vitality Check Vitality Check is a range of screening tests that help you identify your risk for lifestyle-related chronic conditions. Vitality Check costs R95 and if you are a Discovery Health member this amount is paid for you from the Screening Benefi t. All adults over 18 can have a Vitality Check at a pharmacy in the Vitality Wellness Network or their company’s Wellness Day and earn Vitality points. Bonus points are awarded when your results are in the clinically acceptable range.

Other preventive screening tests You earn Vitality points for other screening tests to detect certain illnesses. You will only earn Vitality points for the different tests after a certain age.

Fitness, nutrition and online assessments Vitality Fitness Assessment – Have your Vitality Fitness Assessment at a biokineticist in the Vitality Wellness Network and earn 7 500 Vitality points. For only R165 you’ll fi nd out how fi t you are and get advice on how to improve your fi tness. You can also earn bonus Vitality points based on your level of fi tness.

Vitality Nutrition Assessment – Get advice about your eating habits and weight from a registered dietitian in the Vitality Wellness Network and earn 5 000 Vitality points. The Vitality Nutrition Assessment costs only R230.

Vitality’s online Stress and Nutrition Centres – earn up to 2 500 Vitality points for assessing your stress online and up to 2 500 points for visiting the online Nutrition Centre each year. You’ll fi nd useful tips on managing your stress and making healthy dietary changes. Complete the assessments on www.discovery.co.za

Virgin Life Care HealthZone – Earn 100 Vitality points every time you measure your blood pressure, weight and body fat percentage up to a maximum of 2 500 Vitality points a year. Visit a Virgin Life Care HealthZone at any Virgin Active club. Access is free for Virgin Active members.

Wellness for the whole familyVitality gives children great rewards for getting health-savvy and offers benefi ts for new and expecting parents.

Discovery Baby – New and expectant moms get expert advice and support during this exciting time. Parents also get valuable savings on selected car seats, prams, nappies and other baby items when they preauthorise their delivery with Discovery Health after 12 weeks of pregnancy. Discovery Life members need to call Vitality on 0860 99 88 77 to join Discovery Baby.
