“JUST TRIVIA”

A smaller but no less enthusiastic crowd attended the last Just Trivia challenge and enjoyed a great evening.

Mary devised a couple of new games which were hotly contested, much to the amusement of a few fence sitters. The trivia was a great test of memory and imagination and the result in doubt until the last round when Albert Stockford’s team won by ½ point. The table round “States” was of course won by the team that Chuck was on with a perfect 50. I’m not sure who won “Flags” but there were some weird and wonderful answers.

A lovely supper followed and a great night was capped off with the sound of the rain on the iron roof.

Hopefully we shall be able to hold another challenge in a couple of months’ time and those of you who were unable to come in February will be able to join in the fun.

Ride for Life The first ride for life that the classic rider's club held was on the 9th July 2006, this ride was to raise money for the New South Wales Cancer Council.

The ride drew over 50 motorcycles despite the cold wintry conditions. It was an open invitation to any one that had an RTA registered bike. We did a loop of the Goulburn district and then returned to Belmore Park for a morning tea which consisted of some very tasty goodies all kindly donated by Baker's Delight, Mr. Puffin and some very handy cooks.

All we asked was that everyone made a donation to the cancer council box. We managed to raise $2500 to donate to the Cancer Council of New South Wales.

Due to the success of this ride, it has been recom-mended that we hold another one.

This ride will be held on

Sunday the 22nd April 2007. Hopefully weather conditions will be more favourable, and the riding distance has also been extended by popular demand.

The ride will start with all meeting at the park for a briefing, then will depart for the Braidwood road which will lead us into Tarago, where we will connect to Sandy Point road through to Windellama and then along the Oallen Ford road to the Rural Fire Station at Windellama. The Rural Fire Brigade has kindly donated the use of their fire station for our morning tea.

Please feel free to attend Belmore park or the Fire Station Windellama to preview the bikes as they range form vintage to modern; and while you’re there if you could find it in your heart to put your hand in your pocket and make a donation it would be greatly appreciated.

Rider's can donate as well as gain sponsorship to help raise that little bit extra. All we ask is that your bike is RTA registered.

To register or for more details contact: Jamie McGaw on 0428334857 or Bronwyn Temple on 0438285207.

Are You Passionate about Your Community?

The Capital Region Area Consultative Committee (ACC) is seeking expressions of interest from potential new members.

“We are looking for people who are passionate about their community and willing to volunteer their time to provide valuable and independent advice on issues and opportunities in our region, said Chair David Malloch.

“Members are sought from a variety of backgrounds, such as business, education, local government, industry, community and environmental organisa-tions. Young people are very much encouraged to apply,” Mr Malloch said.

We are one of 56 community-based, non-profit ACCs in Australia providing a vital local link to the Australian Government on local, social and economic issues.

We are the primary point of contact in the Capital Region for the Australian Government’s Regional Partnerships program.

The ACC also provides the Mobile Small Business Country Information Service in the Capital Region and Southern Highlands, funded under AusIndustry’s Small Business Field Officer Program.

Current committee members include ACT business-man David Malloch, Goulburn-based district TAFE manager Craig Fowler, Yass Valley Council Commu-nity Development Manager Cathy Campbell, former federal government departmental secretary Charles Halton, Chief Executive of Northside Community Service Stephen Larcombe, retired high school principal Daryl Evans of Queanbeyan, Braidwood gallery owner Jill McLeod and Terry Williams of the Ngunnawal Centre at the University of Canberra.

The Capital Region ACC is seeking to fill a number of positions on the Committee in the next two months.
