It always makes me happy to see the flowers and trees in full bloom again. The sights and smells of spring inspire a sense of rebirth and renewal. It’s also a great time for re-decorating! Cast off the heavy fabrics of winter and treat yourself to a fresh, new look for the warm days ahead. In this issue, we take a look at some of the stunning window treatments and pillows created by Debage, Inc. Their pieces are light and airy, and unlike anything else I have seen. The design gracing our cover is called “Passion Flower,” and what I love most about it, aside from the great green color, is the hand-embroidered beads that are dotted in every hand-formed blossom. No detail is overlooked in this beautiful collection.

In this issue we also introduce some other designers who you may or may not already know. Charlotte Moss for Fabricut and John Robshaw for Duralee are both great new collections with worldly style. Amy Butler isn’t new to the fabric world, but thanks to new partnerships, her unique aesthetic is now available in a wide range of products from luggage to rugs.

So relax and unwind while you take a look through this season’s latest and greatest finds. We hope you will enjoy the amazing new looks just waiting for you to try in your own space. And remember, anything you see in this issue can be purchased directly through The Window Scene. We are here to assist you with all of your decorating needs. Just contact us!

Exquisite, hand-worked appliques, gorgeous jewels, crystals, beading, and trims are embellished on the most luxurious fabrics in this collection of draperies, accent pillows, and more by Debage, Inc. Inspired by the great palaces of Europe, the seascapes of the Mediterranean, historic gardens, and the simple and beautiful elements in our daily lives, Debage has enlisted the finest artisans to create these impressive masterpieces. Described as “old world elegance meets modern day style,” each piece in this collection is truly a work of art. The intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail make this collection the ultimate in fine living.

Summer is the time for enjoying a meal in the great outdoors. Red farmhouse stripes on natural, washed linen tablecoths and placemats create a simple yet stylish setting. Tableware like these unique, seahorse-motif stoneware bowls can be carried from your kitchen in a washed grey willow picnic basket. A bamboo lantern provides ambient lighting as the sun sets.

Colorful Collaging

The revival of the cottage craft of patchwork has been building steam over the last couple years, and this season it is showing up everywhere. Piecing together multiple fabrics in a variety of prints creates a unique look all its own. Patchwork originated with quilts, but today it can be seen in all types of home decor, from furniture to floor mats to home accessories like mirrors and wall art. Use it sparingly in a room to keep the look from appearing cluttered. A neutral backdrop provides the perfect place to showcase an impressive patchwork piece.

Introducing...

John Robshawfor Duralee

Page 50: The Window Scene Magazine Spring/Summer 2012

50

Page 51: The Window Scene Magazine Spring/Summer 2012

51

Inspired by his travels through Asia, where he spent time studying the art of block printing in China and traditional fabric-making in India, textile designer John Robshaw developed a signature style he describes as “an updated spin on the exotic, handmade object; a vibrant mix of sophistication and romantic allure.”

Of his worldly aesthetic, John says, “I want all the colors, processes and designs from each culture to blend. I redesign them and mix up the processes in ways no one has ever done before. I try to edit them, learn from them, make them my own but retain their essence. In piggybacking these designs and techniques with each other or with my own ideas, what emerges is new and fresh, and yet retains that sense of tradition, of the handmade.”

With the launch of his exclusive line of fabrics for Duralee, Robshaw’s dynamic style is now available to a wider audience. Featuring the look of time-worn block prints, delicate embroidery, and coordinated wovens, these fabrics are perfect for draperies, bedding, and upholstery. With a price point less than many designer fabrics, the John Robshaw collection for Duralee allows you to dream of exotic places and interiors that can now be yours.
